I know this question probably has been asking 100 times but besides using excel or word, what is the best alternative to keeping track of your collection online? I see some people have links to online databases will a list of their games.

Just looking for recommendations. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

RF Generation (http://www.rfgeneration.com) or VG Rebirth. Don't use IGN or GameSpot, their options are a joke.

This isn't an online option, but if you want something that you can make really in-depth I suggest getting the GameCollector software from collectorz.com. That's what I use.

I like Mobygames.

But that's not really for keeping track of games. They do have an option for that though.

Still, it's a great site.

Same here. I've been using it for a year now and it's great. Plus you don't have to worry about websites suddenly disappearing on you. I like the fact you can also output your game list for the iPod. It really helps me cut down on buying doubles (and triples) of titles.

I mainly use Mobygames (http://www.mobygames.com) and The Legacy (http://www.thelegacy.de) nowadays. Also Playright (http://uk.playright.dk) comes to mind.

I've been using IGN since I'm too lazy to re-add my entire collection elsewhere.

I use and love RFGeneration.com. It's simply the best IMO.

I don't care for the online collection sites, really. I used to use IGN, but once I started to get more imports and obscure games, I realized that they didn't have all the games in their database that I owned.

That's why I switched to GameCollector. They let you just type in whatever you want, like Notepad or Excel, but also let you add pictures and descriptions, and sort by all kinds of different things.

Some great suggestions here.

Sure beats the days when I just wrote up stuff in Notepad.

I've always used gametz, whitch can be a burden or a blessing. I have never had trouble finding a game I own on there, but you get alot of mail form people wanting to trade. Sometim you make a good trade though and it makes it worth using it.

Okay, here's one for you guys... now that there's an Apple iPhone/iPod Touch Application Store, have any of you tried out some of the apps to see if they'll let you import lists and such? Because I'd like to be able to download lists from sites, edit them if I need to, and have them on my iPod Touch to be able to comb through it before I forget what's in my collection and absent-mindedly pick up a fourth copy of Coconuts for the Atari 2600.

Well, if memory serves, the Collectorz program has an iPod version. That might be what you're looking for.

The program has an option to output your lists to the notes function on your iPod. Very handy when you go thrifting and can't remember exactly what Atari games you have. :)
