Hi Everyone I've just recently decided to start collecting for the dreamcast and I was wondering could anyone give me a list of good games to help start my collection? thanks to all who reply.

Somebody should compile a list of the fifty best "Recommend some good Dreamcast games" threads from these forums.

Well of course.

I'm just giving a list of favorites from my own collection. Too lazy.

Here's 47 of my favorite games from my own collection. In no particular order.

Star Wars: Episode I Jedi Power Battles
Skies Of Arcadia
Dead or Alive 2
Feet of Fury
Grandia II
Namco Museum
F355 Challenge Passione Rossa
San Francisco Rush 2049 (not very well known, but extremely fun to play with friends!)
Bust-A-Move 4
Crazy Taxi 2
D2
Frogger 2
The King of Fighters Dream Match '99
Wetrix+
Floigan Bros. Episode 1 (for those of us that love Banjo-kazooie type of games.)
Sonic Adventure 2
Aerowings
Daytona USA
Hydro Thunder
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (simple fighting game)
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
Carrier
Coaster Works
Evolution 2- Far Off Promise
Nightmare Creatures II
Shenmue
Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Omikron: The Nomad Soul (not sure what to do with this game but the play map is extremely large and at least interesting to walk around in for afew hours.)
Phantasy Star Online (ver. 1)
Silver
Sonic Adventure (an "Of course!" one)
Star Wars: Episode I Racer
The Ring: Terror's Realm
Time Stalkers
ChuChu Rocket!
Crazy Taxi
Evolution-The World of Sacred Device
Jet Grind Radio
Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver
Maken X (No idea.. I just really like it)
Plasma Sword
Quake III Arena
South Park Chef's Luv Shack (fun "get together with friends" game.)
Space Channel 5 (has a fun code that plays itself!)
Toy Commander
REZ (hard to find in the United States, but I find it's worth it)

Also:

Assessories must have:

Get Code breaker. Much more useful than the Game Shark in my own opinion.

Project Justice, its a sequel to the Playstation game Rival Schools, very good fighting game but also a little expensive

Steet Fighter 3rd Strike. The best Street Fighter game Period.

Street Fighter Alpha 3, good game, not as good as third strike. But then again, nothing is.

Marvel vs. Capcom/Marvel vs. Capcom 2. no need to explain these, much better then the PS2 and Xbox version.

Power Stone 1 and 2. what Super Smash Brothers wishes it could be.

Capcom vs. SNK, another great fighting game.

Shenmue 2, its the PAL version, you have to import it, but its worth it.

Fatal Fury, Mark of the Wolves, Best Fatal Fury game IMO, also a little pricey.

Bangai O, Great game and very fun.

Soul Calibur, nuff said.

Striker Pro 2000, its a 5 on the rarity chart but its cheap to pick up off ebay.

otoko's list covers most of the good games, these are the games he didn't have on his list.

Hey Nero,

If your are a general collector, otoko's list is pretty good.

If you are looking for a specific genre, list it or them, and those who are most familiar with it can give you a more detailed list.

This is an AWESOME site that I used to browse a LOT back in 2003-2004. I'm happy to see it's still around, though I dunno if it is still being updated or not. Nevermind that, it already has enough material to be an outstanding database of DC goodies:

Skies of Arcadia :P

I'm assuming that ":P" is some code for "is a terrible, moronic little cockroach of an RPG that no one would even pretend to like if it weren't a Sega game on their beloved Dreamcast."

Expendable. I really like it anyways...

I also liked Soul Fighter and Slave Zero...

I know, I know, there's many I didn't cover. But I either don't have them or was trying to shorten it to a point that I wasn't just listing off my entire 77 game Dreamcast collection.

Besides. There's plenty in my collection that just suck.. *cough*chickenrun*cough*

I didn't make a extreme suggestion though.. hmm

Jet Grind Radio is one of my all time favorites.. Along with Skies of Arcadia.

Don't have Soul Fighter. I enjoyed Slave Zero. But the game (at least the copy I have) is really buggy. Then again.. You can throw random small cars. It's still a fun game.

Who knows.. It's actually one of the extreme few games in my collection I keep playing again. Considering I also have only beaten 10 or so games in my collection. I can't play games for long, I loose interest.

Get Sega Marine Fishing & the fishing reel controller & you'll never leave the house. There are a couple bass fishing games too, but Marine Fishing offers a wider variety of fish & locales.

Hey anyone tried Sega Smash Pack? 12 Genesis games on 1 disc- got extreme reviews from Game Informer (9/10) & EGM (3(?)/10). I grabbed it awhile back for $3 but never played it.

haha I used to play that, who would have thought a video game about fishing would be so cool.

Hard to go wrong with the platforms many fighters, though for my money Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is the absolute best (ever). Of US released shooters, Mars Matrix is stellar - one of the genre's finest - and of all shooters, Ikaruga is the way to go.

Lots of people seem to like Skies of Arcadia, but I'm not sure why. Very bland RPG, this coming from someone who invested 20+ hours into it.

Most of the 1st party stuff is solid. Jet Grind Radio is one of the best games of the generation and, at least visually, a huge influence on gaming as a whole. Samba de Amigo was one of the earlier rhythm games to show up in the US and is still a blast. You'll need the maracas though, and those will run you $80/set (the third party maracas do not compare - avoid at all costs).

A few under appreciated titles I would recommend:

Blue Stinger
Fur Fighters
Illbleed
MDK2 (warning: difficult game)
Record of Lodoss War (not a huge fan myself, but it's apparently a solid Diablo clone. . .which works if you're into Diablo clones)
Zombie Revenge

Note also that while many titles were ported to PS2, the Dreamcast versions are almost universally better.

The sound emulation is terrible. Otherwise, good to go.

Well, at this point most of my games will overlap with everyone else's lists...so I'm just reiterating the good titles.

Bangai-O
Crazy Taxi
Daytona USA
Dead or Alive 2
Ecco the Dolphin
Gigawing 2
House of the Dead 2
Hydro Thunder
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
San Francisco Rush 2049
Seaman
Skies of Arcadia
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Soul Calibur

That's more or less all I can contribute

Whoa dude, don't knock the DC games in a DC thread.

Skies is awesome. It is not for the hardcore RPG peeps, which is probably why I enjoyed it.

Also, what types of games do you like?
If you are into arcade, then me and you can do some talking, because that is why I got the DC

I also have a question regarding a DC. Is there any good Japan/Europe only games? outside of Shenmue 2, I don't know any.

Cool Cool Toon, Headhunter, MoHo, Rent-a-Hero, Fire Pro Wrestling D, Psyvariar 2 and Under Defeat are some more.

I could go on. The Dreamcast has an excellent import library.

Most glaring absense of US release: Super Puzzle Fighter (ouch!), Guilty Gear, DDR.

Propeller Arena was canceled due to 9-11

The game is very complete, it's just the release was canceled because of 9-11, the Dreamcast dieing also helped put the nails in it's coffin. The game is still very obtainable tho via torrents and is worth at least checking out to see what could have been. It would've been one hell of an online multi-player game, it's sad that they didn't try to port it over to PS2 after the heat died down.

the 9-11 thing was bs...... but yes the game is very much complete and readily available for those who want it. Thanks to someone who bought one of the beta copies for hundreds and dumped it.

You're not supposed to ask or give roms/iso on the forums. Of course, this game is unreleased so it could be an exception. To be on the safe side, it's best not to ask.

A quick internet search of what you are looking for should point you in the right direction.

It's okay, I found one and downloaded/burned it.

It took two days, but it was worth it. :D

Oh, and it's legal to download unreleased games because they were never released.

That is false. It makes no difference. They're still copyrighted.

It's a pretty good game, though, yeah. Would have been fabulous online, I bet.
