I came into some birthday money so I'm looking to buy a Sega CDX.

It does not need to be boxed, have any manuals, controllers or games.
It does need to function properly and be in good/great shape cosmetically.

I'm assuming that it'll take the same hook-ups as a Genesis Model II or Nomad, so (if I am correct) it does not need to include any of these items either.

Obviously since I'm only looking for a loose CDX, I'm not willing to spend a fortune, but I am willing to spend a fair price. Thanks in advance for any responses I may get :)

Ahhhhaaaa... good catch.

I fixed it. I'm looking for a CDX and not a Nomad.

I'm open to trades by the way. I don't have a trades list prepared, so if someone is looking for something in particular I may have it, likely not though.

If the CDX doesn't have its original AC adapter and you use one from a Genesis 2 you are risking overheating and eventual failure.

So what is a suitable replacement?

I found and bought a cdx on ebay (link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230276309992)). It doesn't show cords/controllers but doesn't say that it doesn't include them.

What would make a suitable replacement AC adapter replacement?

Anything around 10v give or take that outputs at LEAST 1.5A, that's the tricky part. The JVC X'Eye and CDX use the same specs amazingly enough.

Sega hardware was nothing if not power hungry.

I would contact the seller and have them clarify if it comes with power adapter. He said he has had it since 94, so assuming he kept it all this time, he should have the adapter. Also, no where does it say comes as-is, untested, no hopefully he has it.

Best of luck!

Good idea. Hopefully he'll get back to me soon.

My only concern is that the seller only has 2 feedback. Normally I don't deal with sellers with such little feedback but I took a chance this time.

well if he says it still works perfectly thats a good sign for the hookups, he has to has them if he can make that claim, now including them is a different story :P

The seller responded:

yes, thank you for the quick payment. It has all the cords necessary. Power cord, A/V cords, and a controller.

Here's hoping it all works when it gets here :)

Looks like you got a good deal. If The Punisher is complete, that's about $40-$50 right there. Hope everything turns out great.
