View Full Version : The Delay Rant Thread!

Perhaps this should be a whole forum, but I just thought that it would be fun to have a thread for ranting about whatever delays are keeping you anxious! So let's hear it... what are you tired of waiting for that keeps getting delayed? It's been 10 long years, and still no Duke Nukem Forever? WTF is up with that?

Nothing. Delays serve to help me clear out some back catalog before the new stuff I do want comes out. I've adopted the philosophy of whenever it gets here, it gets here.

Agreed. And I would much rather a game were delayed to be polished then rushed out to meet a deadline. I still anxious and impatient, but I know it's worth the wait.

Now that the stage is set, I'll start the ball rolling with a couple of titles that I've been ready for on the PC for over a year now:
Flatout Ultimate Carnage
&
Ford Racing Off Road
Both of these games were announced with release dates in July, 2007, if I remember correctly. I know I was posting on the Dirt forums that I was looking forward to playing these two games next, right after Dirt came out, and that was in June of last year. So it's been over a year ago that these games were supposedly coming soon, and they still aren't out in the US yet!
Which brings me to my rant... WHY THE FUCK is it taking so damn long for a FUCKING X360 PORT (Flatout Ultimate Carnage) to make it to the PC, if it isn't just because FUCKING MICROSUCK wants it to be an X360 "exclusive" for at least a year? Get with the FUCKING PROGRAMMING, people! It's a SIMPLE FUCKING PORT! All it is is an UPGRADE of Flatout 2! WHAT THE FUCK is so hard to do? And WHY THE HELL is it SO FUCKING HARD to get a GOD DAMN US version of Ford Racing Off Road into American stores? The game has been out for MONTHS already in the UK, and yet it still keeps getting delayed here! Is the US version gonna be any different from the UK version, other than the artwork? NO! So WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE FUCKING CONSTANT DELAYS?

I remember waiting for Ocarina of Time. It seemed like absolutely forever at the time, but I suppose we had multiplayer Goldeneye to keep us busy.
No idea why it's taking until Q1 2009 for Battle Fantasia's European release though.

Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. I had to wait from may 1998 to June 1999 for that damned game!
At the age of 15, it was incredibly frustrating to have your mom drive you to GameStop (which was a half-hour away and still Software, Etc.), and have the clerk tell you time and time again it's been delayed for 2 months, 3 months, 2 more weeks, another 2 months... Friggin' working designs.
I will admit though, it's still one of my favorite RPGs, and I probably wouldn't have bought Pocket Fighter had it not been delayed. PF was a blast with my friends.
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway has been taking its time too, but I know it's going to be incredible when it does come out, so I'm trying to be patient.
And Valve... Half-Life 2: Episode 3? Just wondering how that's going...

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to release Daigasso Band Bros. in North America. Too bad that it was cancelled!

Thanks Le Geek, I forgot about that one... I am looking forward to the next installment of Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness. I really enjoyed playing the first installment and the demo. (on PC)
However, I want game developers to do a good job. If it was hurry up and crap out some game I'm wanting now, it's inevitably going to suck. Schedules slip. That's just how things are. I'm sure many of you can think of a game that could have done with a few more months in the oven to correct mechanics that made bad games bad. For me, the best example that comes to mind was Drake for XBox. I _wanted_ to like this game. I could forgive the odd attempt at cell shading graphics and the below average CGI cutscenes, but I could not forgive the really bad camera control or the dumb-as-a-post AI that just contributed to the punishment. 2-3 more months of 'cooking' and a bottom of the barrel title may have at least been mediocre title.
With the running gag that is Duke Nukem, the game has reached the other end of the curve where no amount of quality and polish can offset the wait. I'll bet that if it does see release it will be compared to Daikatana by some fraction of the gaming community.
Hex.

I'm glad Too Human is finally coming out next week. I remember it being announced for the PSX so long ago and changing systems multiple times, it seemed like it'd never be released.

Still waiting for Midway to realize that canceling Static Shock was a bad idea.

At the moment I'm more ranty about mods not getting finished. Science and Industry 2, Goldeneye Source, Perfect Dark Source, Half Life Decay PC version...nothing yet.
Not to mention translations like Mother 3 (hopefully, the quality shall be worth the waiting) and Namco X Capcom (I'm waiting for at least one more bugfix release, although that is apparently coming soon). And would it kill the guys who did Cardfighters Clash 2 to make the DS version not so horribly stretched and nasty looking? Oh well, i'm sure they all do what they can.
I would rant about Saints Row 2 being pushed back but it's to polish the game and I don't have the spare money together for it yet anyway.

Yeah, I just recently spent a good amount of time with the first Saint's Row so I'm not too worried about it getting pushed back.
My vote would be Yakuza 2 since it may be the last good PlayStation 2 game we get in the U.S. before the system is cast into the annals of time. I should probably finish the first game in that series too.

What's worse is when they tease/torment you with the delays just to pull the rug out by finally canceling the release...
Every time I think about how long I waited through the Policenaut delays just to have it canceled... :bad-words:

What's up with Racing Gears DS? I've been looking forward to that game for quite some time. Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbital_Media_Inc.) claims that the game is "still in development" (I hope that isn't short for "development hell").
No big deal though, I was probably going to wait until a price drop or two.

What a coincidence, Iron Draggon...I was just reading that the branded racing games for Xbox were turds, and Ford Racing gets a better score than whichever one I read about (http://xbox.ign.com/objects/685/685971.html).
So this series doesn't look like a winner.
What's so special about it?
And on the topic of Duke Nukem Forever...wow, the DN Trilogy trailer was just...just...

well for me, the best thing about the Ford Racing series is the Mustangs... so of course Ford Mustang is one of the two Ford Racing games never released for the PC... the other one is Ford VS Chevy, which would be even more cool than the all Mustang game, cause you get to race them against Camaros... I sure wish I knew why the hell they chose not to release those two on the PC
anyhow, Ford Racing Off Road lets you race Ford trucks and SUV's against Land Rovers... which sounds alot more interesting than Ford Truck Racing on the PS was, which only let you race a few Ford trucks against each other
and I do not understand the constant delays of the US version anymore, now that the game has been out in the UK for about half a year... what is the fucking holdup? every month they say it'll be released the following month!
they already secured a publisher for it... Strategy First has had it available for preorder on their website for at least as long as the UK version has been out... so why are they taking so fucking long to release the damn US version?

I agree so much. And I was so damn upset when this site:
http://store.videogamecentral.com/xbox360-horipad-ex-turbo.html
Said the controller would be in stock July 2nd 2008, yet now it says 10/21/08. That really annoys the crap out of me >_> I want a good fighting game controller so I can comfortable play Street Fighter II Hyper Remix.
Also, not really on topic, but I might as well throw this out there. I hate it when CDs are freakin delayed. Now THAT happens to me a lot. I love music, and I like to get the best stuff the day it comes out. Then I realize it's been delayed, it's like ugh.
