My Favorite has to be TMNT. It brings back memories of the original Ninja Turtles Beatem ups. :D

My favorite for GBA... Super Robot Taisen OG (I and II). Incredible tactics games, worth every last cent. They could have been twice the price and I would have bought them.

For the classic GB... Megaman V. It's not a re-hash of the NES versions. This is an all new Mega Man. It'll set you back a few Andy Jacksons, but it's WELL worth the purchase.

Other classic notables are Cosmo Tank, Final Fantasy Adventure, and the one I am playing now: Sword of Hope II.

Gameboy:
Tetris
Burgertime Deluxe
Donkey Kong GB
Bionic Commando

Gameboy Color:
Dragon's Lair
Uno
Rampart

Gameboy Advance:
River City Ransom EX
Defender of the Crown
Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario 3

I like the both the boxxles a lot.

Knight's Quest and Spud's Adventure are also pretty neat.

I like the Advance wars games a lot - but not being able to go into the individual battles at will in the campaign games is kinda frustrating.

My favorites (all for the GBA):

- Summon Night: Swordcraft Story (both I and II): both are excellent games -- even better than the new DS version, IMHO. If I was stuck on a desert island and could only have one portable game with me, it would be one of these two (though which one might be hard to decide... :)).

- Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers / Return of the King: I'm a big fan of hack-and-slash games, and they were done surprisingly well, considering the limitations of the platform. Plus, it's not often that you see a movie based game that doesn't suck!

xXx for GBA
in all seriousness, Konami GB Collection Vol (whichever has Op C./Nemesis/Castlevania 1 on it, and whichever one has Gradius II and Castlevania II on it)

GBC: Project S-11
GBA: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

On the GBC, I might as well mention Shantae too, shouldn't I?

R-Type DX isn't too bad either.

I can't think of many other GBC titles I think are worthwhile. Ghouls 'n' Ghosts...clipped screen problems. Perfect Dark...ugh.

GameSpot gave S-11 a pretty lousy 6.5, but in the Chrono Cross thread I see they gave that game a 10. I think somebody from Shmups Forum played and reviewed S-11, so I'll look at that.

The Warioland games are sorely neglected examples of platforming brilliance. When oh when are we going to get Super Wario All-Stars?

Warioware Twisted is also an awesome and unique experience.

I'll also add Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Not entirely related, but there's a new Wario Land Wii game coming out soon if you didn't know.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the re-released NES games on the GameBoy but my top 3 I think would be:

- Advance Wars
- Tetris
- Boxxle

Iron Draggon

Strike Force Hydra

if only I had a GameCube and a GBA adapter for it... then it would really rule!

Original GB:
Gargoyle's Quest, hands down

GBC:
Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons

GBA (in no particular order):
Boktai
Ninja Five-O
Phantasy Star Collection
Rebelstar: Tactical Command
ZOE: Fist of Mars
Car Battler Joe

I can't narrow the GBA down more than that....I have a lot of games for it. Those are easily my top favorites tho.

GB/GBC:
Donkey Kong 94 (I liked Mario vs. Donkey Kong, but DK 94 was a better game)
Pokémon Blue/Red
Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages
Game and Watch Gallery 3 (lots of games on one cart -- and the modern remakes are fun too)
Dragon Warrior I+II/III

GBA:
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (I see it more as a sequel to DK 94 anyways... but I wish Nintendo had included the complete original DK as a bonus)
Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
Wario Ware
Final Fantasy IV Advance (been playing FFIV and FFV on the GBA lately, and I prefer IV)
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Metroid Fusion (despite the stress that's the Samus-X until later in the game)
Metroid Zero (a good remake of the original)

@Maxlords: I hated Phantasy Star Collection. Great idea, but 1. the fact that you needed to carry the item poster with you to know what to buy for whom, and 2. the fatal save bug in Phantasy Star 1 (if you saved during a certain music loop, the game would crash) were both turnoffs for me.

My GBA favourites:

WarioWare (and Twisted)
Rhythm Tengoku
Astro Boy
Dotstream (bit Generations)
Dialhex (bit Generations)

On the original Game Boy, you could just go with the big names like Tetris and Pokemon. There is a reason they are that popular.

Gameboy:
Final Fantasy Legend - My first foray into videogame RPG's.
Nobunaga's Ambition - Doesn't get enough love in the U.S imo.

Gameboy Color:
Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons
Warlocked - Want to see a Z80 CPU crawl on all fours like a dog? Try watching it push 75 realtime combat units around a playfield. GBC RTS FTW LOL!

Gameboy Advance:
Advance Wars - Never played it before last year but it completely blew me away.
Phantasy Star Collection

Gameboy Classic:
Bionic Commando GB - Prefer this to the NES version actually.
Castlevania 2: Belmont Revenge - Much improved sequel, though the walking speed is still a bit too slow.
Donkey Kong GB - Amazing gameplay and replay value.
Final Fantasy Adventure - Wouldn't be surprised if these guys also worked on Links Awakening. Epic for a GB game.
Mole Mania - Great little puzzler with a good challenge.
Kirbys DL 2 - Cute platformer with good longevity.
Legend of Zelda: Link Awakening - It's still my fav Zelda.
Rolans Curse 2 - Pretty neat arpg game. Excellent soundtrack.
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land - Wario > Mario on this console.

Gameboy Color
Super Mario Deluxe
Metal Gear Solid
Survival Kids
Shantae
Wario Land 3

Gameboy Advance
Astroboy
Kuru Kuru Kururin

Strike Force Hydra

if only I had a GameCube and a GBA adapter for it... then it would really rule!
Strike Force Hydra is to shooting games as xXx is to platforming games.

i.e. it's about as fun, for me, as a swift kick to the eye.

It has absolutely no gameplay mechanic, horrible enemy patterns, and is basic in many other ways.

Not trying to bust Draggon's balls for liking it, but most people don't like this one.

ALSO: I should add that I sort of like the Splinter Cell games. They're kinda quirky, ugly, and tend to have uninspired level designs (looong hallways too), but they try some new things that you don't see in a lot of other action games.

Final Fantasy Adventure is actually known as Seiken Densetsu in Japan, making it the first game in the "Secret of Mana" series as it's known here.

My favorite OG GameBoy game is probably Donkey Kong. 96 levels of platforming/puzzle goodness.

My fav GBA game is probably Wario Ware MegaMicrogame$. Some of the best weirdness I've see in a game.

And we might as well also mention that Sword of Mana for the GBA is supposedly a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure.

My favorite OG GameBoy game is probably Donkey Kong. 96 levels of platforming/puzzle goodness.

It comes out to 101 levels, if I'm not mistaken.

I started playing Mario vs Donkey Kong for GBA a while ago, and was rather astonished at how just a few unfortunate design changes really managed to kill the fun. It's not bad - just not nearly as good.

My fav GBA game is probably Wario Ware MegaMicrogame$. Some of the best weirdness I've see in a game.

The fun kind of dissipates after you spend too much time trying to clear everything.

Excellent game, but for me, it doesn't top Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.

Metal gear ghost babel , amazing game for the gameboy color. Having great gameplay that resembles the old school metal gears and have a somewhat complex storyline in vain of later titles in the series.

Zelda Links awakening - Need I say more on a classic game that hasn't already been said?

Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 - A gameboy color remake thats better in graphics and accessibility for players , they are actually pretty enjoyable remakes. Dragon warrior 1 remake is especially fun considering the original nes version was just so slow paced.

Sega Arcade Gallery for gba

Awesome renditions of:

Outrun
Space Harrier
Super Hang On

and a really, really bad version of:

Afterburner

Yeah, these ports are everywhere besides the gba, but I've played this one more than any other gba game

Runner up:

Iridion 3-D
Metroid Fusion
Sonic Pinball Party

WOW people thanks for the many post! I made this thread considering how cheap GBA games are these days at places like walmart and KB toys. I was at my local KB toys the other day and I found Zelda Minish Cap sealed for 5.99, TMNT sealed for 5.99 and many others. This week probably ill look for some GBA games at Walmart or at Target considering that Gamestops GBA games are really expensive and most of the time are Fucked up!
