After almost two months of polling, we have the final results of the Digitpress.com Top 20 U.S. Saturn Games poll! Comparing the 2008 poll with the 2002 poll, we have some changes.

Six games fell off the list:

Virtual On
Winter Heat

No VF2? WTF? I mean, Fighters Megamix is nice, but VF2 is the ultimate Saturn fighting game.

I agree there, also Mr. Bones is a great idea that was made into a bad game. When it was nominated I went and replayed it to refresh my memory. I remember it being ok but not aweome, and now I just think it's bad. Oh well, democracy has spoken.

So goes opinions, I suppose (and now I kinda wish I'd added mine by voting). Though to be fair, Burning Rangers, Die Hard Arcade, Gun Griffon and Panzer Dragoon really should've been on the list in the first place.

I found it funny that all 3 Panzer games were on the list. Personally I thought Zwei was better than the first one and they were similar enough to warrant just one. Saga is a different beast and deserves it's spot.

Replacing Panzer Dragoon & Fighters Megamix with Nightwarriors & VF2, and the list would be almost perfect :)

It's also unfortunate that Galactic Attack (Layer Section) didn't make the list, since the Saturn is so well known for 2D shooters.

I'd kill Mr. Bones for either 3 Dirty Dwarves or Shinobi Legions to become happy. Maybe in another 6 years it will turn out that way.

Yeah, I was surprised to see Mr. Bones on that list too. Awful game, IMO.

I'm quite happy with the new list, but I'd have rather seen Gun Griffon and Super Street Fighter II Puzzle Turbo Championship Edition bite the dust in favor of a Virtua Fighter game and Virtual On - both are seminal franchises birthed on the system. Glad to have mr. Bones and Legend of Oasis on there, Burning Rangers seemed like a no brainer, so it's good to be in its rightful spot now too.

No problem at all. I enjoyed it. I would have liked to have been able to vote but considering that I have only just gotten into Saturn, I didn't think my votes carried enough experience. I do have quite a few games from the list and I love them all...but you know...wtf do I know about Saturn gaming? :P
Going into the poll, I wasn't sure whether or not we would get enough votes to justify the poll. You know, all the ignoring and everything we get from a small number of oldschoolers but it actually turned out really well. Some of the voters I expected never even touched the threads but that's the way the cookie crumbles. The poll was a success without them. Totaly worth the effort and we have a kick ass updated list! Thanks for all the support, everyone!

After following all three threads and looking at the final poll, there are quite a few games off the list that I'm going to try, and some on the list that I probably will not try. We have mini reviews in those threads and some compelling arguments. I know exactly where to take my Saturn collection from here.
