for some reason, I can't get game updates to download onto my PS3. Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA 4, and Soul Calibur 4 all need updates and every one will not let me finish the download. It usually slows down and then eventually stops downloading, and then signs me out of the PSN. I don't think its my router or anything because it lets me download everything else on every other piece of hardware (even PSN games and movies will download). Any suggestions of what it could be or what to try? thanks ahead of time for any help.

I had to hard wire my ps3. i was experiencing issues with downloads but every since I hard wired it has been fine. The funny thing is when I play online it was fine just the downloads.

Wow, I had the same problem.

I could never download Soul Calibur 4 update, but was able to download Naruto demo without problems.

Is it possible that upon downloading updates memory room is not adequate enough ..then it just stops..

no because I don't really have alot on my HD. If I wanted to, I could go in and download pretty much anything right now, except the game updates. I'm using a 60 gig by the way if that helps at all.

Are you missing a system update? Check to make sure that's all up to date first.

also definately up to date. Good point but I don't think it would have even let me sign onto PSN at all if it wasn't.

Yeah so is mine, which is why I asked, I have had issues when i first started with my PS3 but all seems fine now.

I believe it is a known issues with linksys routers. If you do a quick google search it brings up a lot of hits with users having various connection issues.

I had problems with my Linksys WRT54G for the longest time, found out when I moved that the problems didn't come with it. My theory is the 54G is/was a budget router and the bandwidth isn't very large so it takes a pretty strong signal to keep it going. Where I lived I had cable dsl which was shared so it was around 1MB, where I live now it's phone dsl so it's around 3MB+.

One thing that did help when I lived in the other house was http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859837401&packedargs=sku%3D1149562300349&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=3740143298B03&displaypage=download .....firmware update.

It helped a bit but not alot. The truth is the older Linksys routers apparently don't support certain types of packet data that the ps3 loves to use. I've heard you can also change the DHCP of the ps3 to channel 1 and it will help, there are also a few other tricks but I can honestly say it isn't worth the time re-routing your isp and opening DNS. That never helped me a bit.

I've heard netgear is the way to go these days but i'm getting along fine with my Linksys since the move.
