I am trying to get my fiancé to play some games now that she is done with school. What games should I get for her to try? I would like to get a game for the X-Box, PC, PS2 or GameCube. Although if it is a GameCube game I would have to get her a GameCube so she does not cut into my PSO time. :D
She has never really played video games before. :o
Thanks for any help you might have.

I've never had a girlfriend who didn't enjoy the colorful, cutesy Bust-a-Move series. I prefer Super Bust-a-Move to Super Bust-a-Move 2 (which has wretched English voices instead of cutesy Japanese ones), but the gameplay differences are insignificant.
I also scored a direct chickie-girl hit with The Adventures of Cookie and Cream, a PS2 game from Agetec that you can pick up for $20. Wonderful two-player cooperative gameplay. My gal almost cried when she asked how many other games were like C&C and I responded "Um, there really aren't any."

You could always try Animal Crossing or Monkey Ball...of course then you would have to buy another Gamecube. Or how about you get Mario Party 4 and play together. You can still get the Cube with Mario Party free...and free=good.

my wife hates any game system that is not the Atari 2600. Anything with more then one button confuses her. But she does pick up and play my xbox. Her favorites are Tetris, and Sims.

I was gonna suggest Dead Or Alive Beach Volleyball... but I haven't seen most girls interested in that.

Super Bust-a-Move to Super Bust-a-Move 2
:puke:
Go for BAM 4 on the regular PSX (will play on PS2)
Sly Cooper for PS2
Animal Crossing for GCN (perhaps Metropolismania for PS2 as a substitute?)
Activision Anthology

Not to burst your bubble, but I have to ask, is she remotely interested in gaming? I just ask because, as a girl, when my bf gets me something for something else that I'm not remotely interested in, I usually toss it aside, say thanks, and never really use it. Point: does she want to try or do you want her to try it?

Games my fiancee digs include Kingdom Hearts (big disney fan, she is) Zelda in any form, Mario Party 4... I'd also suggest animal crossing, one of the really good final fantasies (you don't know how powerful it was to watch someone that didn't know what was happening get to the end of disc 1 on FFVII) or one of the high end puzzle games. Puzzle fighter, Tetris, bust a move, Money Puzzle Exchanger (*cough*)... there's a lot out there that might help you.

You obviously haven't met me yet. ;)
I second Animal Crossing and the puzzle games. Maybe a board game like Board Game Top Shop or Scrabble?

My wife loves puzzle games. She also really liked Animal Crossing and Super Monkey Ball. Some of her favorites for puzzlers:
Super Bust A Move (PS2)
Puzzle Star Sweep (PSX)
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (coming for GC)
Columns 3 (Genesis)
She also just played Twinkle Star Sprites for Saturn and liked it...mostly cause she kicked my ass :embarrassed:
One last thing she liked...Shadow Hearts for PS2. She didn't actually play it at all, but she watched the ENTIRE game, start to finish as I played it...and she loved it. Go figure.

You don't care for either of the Super BAMs, Achika? Why BAM4 over those two?

try to pick something that she likes outside of video games, and find a video game related or about it. If she enjoys puzzles, pick a good puzzle game, if she is a Harry Potter fan, try the latest Harry Potter game...... etc.

does she want to try or do you want her to try it?
I guess I want her to try them. She played games a long time ago and liked the Shinobi series. I would like for her to try some new two player games that way I don’t run off to my game room all the time when she is watching stupid reality shows. I figured we could play some games together.

Good luck buddy. Following the exact same reasoning, I've been trying to get my wife to try videogames with me for nearly 10 years, and I haven't been successful yet.
The closest I've come is the one night she watched me play the Dreamcast game 'The Grinch' for a couple of hours. I had picked up the game for her, as she is a huge Dr. Seuss fan and liked the Jim Carrey movie. But she didn't care for playing the game, I thought the game was pretty dismal, but she really enjoyed watching me play the game. Go figure.

The only recent game that hooked my wife (and I use the word "recent" loosely) was Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (Playstation), which you can pick up these days from videogamedepot.com or videogameadvantage.com for about $30. Ebay prices are similar. It'll play just fine on your PS2. The game is also available now for GBA, so if you get a Gameboy Player you can duke it out with your wife on your Gamecube.
