jamma dip switch help needed

i just got nba jam for my jamma cabinet, but the game just loops back after doing the initial rom check. not sure why this is happening (i'm new at all this), but i can get to the test menu. when i get there all the tests seem to check out, but i can't change any of the dip switch settings. it doesn't matter which switches i throw it says all of them are always on. any help on either problem would be much appreciated.

I'd highly recommend looking up the manual for the board - googling the name of the game, jamma and manual will usually turn up scans of manuals for popular games. Ebay's good if you want paper copies or can't find anything that way.

Since it sounds like you're getting video and controls working so it's probably nothing wrong with the board... just a setting somewhere.

Other boards work in the cabinet just fine?

yes, all other boards work properly. i have reset all game settings to factory default, it just seems odd that no matter which way i flip the dip switches, it always says there all on.

Check switch 1. If it's flipped then it's using CMOS settings and you have do adjust them in software instead of with the hardware switches.
