Hello, everyone.

After over ten years of searching, Fatal Encounter, the long-lost English language version of Super Fighter, has finally been discovered!

Produced in 1993 by our business partners C&E Inc., Super Fighter was released in Taiwan in Chinese, and due to its success there was translated into English and planned for release in the USA - but due to piracy concerns, these plans were dropped and instead, the game saw release in Australia (and perhaps elsewhere). Due to the limited number of copies produced, Fatal Encounter wasn't pirated through the BBS scene, unlike its Chinese counterpart, and fell into complete obscurity. As well, C&E's only remaining copy of the game had fallen prey to disk corruption.

After trying for years to obtain a copy of the game through many different means, my search was put to rest on August 1, 2008 by an Australian named Davis Chan. Going through the hard drive of his son's now abandoned 486, he came upon the complete, pre-installed copy of Fatal Encounter, a game he had bought for his son in 1993. Attempting to play the game but finding its copy protection routine to be cumbersome, he searched the internet for information about the game, which led him to my website - superfighter.net (http://www.superfighter.net/) - which, coincidentally enough, was just 2 days shy of celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Thus, as of August 3, 2008, we at Super Fighter Team are extremely pleased to release, for the first time ever, a complete and working copy of Fatal Encounter, a previously lost gem, with the copy protection removed for full convenience!

*** Visit superfighter.net to download Fatal Encounter for free! (http://dfg.the-underdogs.info/sf/index.html#download) ***

Please feel free to download the game and spread it all over the place - you have our blessing, as current rights holders to both Super Fighter and Fatal Encounter. Let's make sure it never gets lost again!

The game runs best in realtime MS-DOS but the Dosbox emulator (http://www.dosbox.com/) is a good substitute.

Thank-you for your attention. :)

I've added this new information to the Super Fighter entry over at MobyGames. It should be approved in a few days. I'll probably take the time to do some screenshots for the site sometime soon.

Thanks.

There are several good-quality screenshots here -

If you would like more, I'd be happy to produce them for you.

I have to respectfully decline. If I submit screenshots, I have to take them by myself. I have to play the game and get a feel of it to give an accurate description of what's going on in the screen... Unless, of course, you feel like doing so. Since you've played it much more than I ever will, you'll know what to say in those screenies. If you don't want to I'll get to it as soon as I have the chance.
