View Full Version : Hate to ask...Do I need a cap kit?

The image on my MVS jumps up by about two pixels, resets, then jumps up again (repeating a few times), then goes still (as in, works properly) for a while. Every few minutes, it'll do this again. It didn't always do this, so I'm starting to think it's a capacitor issue (as that's what I've read about the most). Is that what it sounds like?

I have a multimeter, so I could always do a resistance check across capacitors (to look for leaks), but that would require taking out and discharging the monitor, so I'd rather have it confirmed here, first.

If I didn't explain the situation well enough, let me know. Thanks.

Or it could be a slight sync issue. Have you tried adjusting it?

Sounds like one of the adjustment pots is dirty.

Well, that would be a much preferable solution. I've tried adjusting (like Paele suggested), but it still happens. Is it possible to actually clean these?

A cracked solder joint can have the same effect.

If you end up capping your monitor make sure you look for cracked solder joints.
