Howdy-

Hope this is the right forum.

Oddly, the Game Boy Advance SP has no headphone jack, unlike every other portable out there...

I did a search but couldn't find any info on hacking a headphone jack into the SP. Anybody have any experience with this or a lead on how to do it?

Thanks!
-Jason

you fail harder, as you cannot read and comprehend what you are quoting. hes looking for a way to hack the sp up, not use an adapter. i know this because thats what he wrote .

You're wrong too, his first line reads "Oddly, the Game Boy Advance SP has no headphone jack, unlike every other portable out there...". As a result, he wants to hack something in.

Which isn't necessary since it isn't true, and the first guy that replied was just pointing out that it indeed does have a headphone jack, though its proprietary; and he did it as rude as possible and deserves rudeness in return.

Get the sand out of your vagina; it could have been much more rude than that. Anyway, this is a basic piece of knowledge that could've been turned up quickly with a trip to Nintendo.com

Wow, how old are you?

I'll admit saying fail isn't that bad, but theres no reason to be rude. If your going to help someone that won't take the 30 seconds to help themselves, at least do it politely, imo.

People calm down. Respect others. As to reply to the question. I was the other day at KB Toys and found one made by Mad Catz

I actually got a cheap pair of headphones and an adapter from GameStop. I believe they cost me $5, but I got 'em years ago.

Frankly, I don't get why Nintendo didn't add a headphone port to the side of the system... but eh.

I'm sure it was to create the least amount of space but that is the thing with nintendo, you never no what they will, or in this case, won't do. :eek 2:

I always thought that they omitted it because of space as well, but the GB Micro is much smaller and has a headphone jack.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy_Micro suggests that in the case of the Micro, the power port is integrated into the link cable port rather than the headphone port. Evidently space was still a consideration.

Nintendo actually made some headphones for the GBA SP that don't need an adapter... unfortunately, you had to buy one of their "GBA SP starter kits" to get a pair, as they were only sold as part of these bundles, not individually

I got a freebie set of the integrated ones from e3 a few years back, Majesco ones or something.

So they did make them... are you looking for internal wiring info to wire in your own jack?

Well, I tried to avoid fueling the flames, but since you asked me directly, it would be rude of me to not reply. :]

My first instinct was to hack nice little jack into the case, so that's what I was attempting to find.

I didn't search on the external adapter cable.

As no info has come up for the jack hack, I've ordered a couple of external adapter cables off of eBay.

However, if I learn of the correct wires/PCB pads to use for a jack, I'd still like to give that a shot.

Thanks,
