I noticed while playing iron tank for then nes yesterday that it uses the same call feature as in metal gear, also the characters name is Snake. Maybe i'm a noob but whats up with that?

Nothing wrong with a little speculation ;)

I'd have to play to compare though - is it even close or just something that reminds you of MG? After watching some vid on Youtube, I don't really see it myself other than a radio on the communication screen. By that comparison, Bionic Commando had it too :P

Always amusing to hear a sound or something from another game somewhere else.

That sound of the soldier dying from Command and Conquer PC shows up in movies and TV shows all the time.

Yeah, the protagonists' name in Iron Tank is Iron Snake, I believe. And he looks like Paul from Ikari Warriors when he's climbing into the tank during the intro. The opening music is a nod to Ikari Warriors as well, I think. (That song is also present in the arcade version, TNK-III)

I love Iron Tank. It's an underappreciated classic. It's got some of the coolest explosions on the NES. In my opinion, it's probably the finest game SNK made for that machine.

What do you mean by the same call feature?

For the record, there are other action heores with the name Snake. On the cover of the NES metal Gear, the character looks like Kyle Reese but was probably named after Snake Plissken, imo. Same way Konami stole Arnold and Stallone pics for Contra and retouched them.

I'll give you it's ONE of the better games but I would have to say Crystalis, Baseball Stars, and Mechanized Attack are better in my opinion. In fact, the only SNK nes games I don't like are Touchdown Fever and Alpha Mission. Ikari Warriors' games are classic and Athena was the first game I played as a kid where I remember the main character being a girl.

Yeah, I'll give you Crystalis, I forgot about that. It is better. I guess Ikari Warriors is fun, but it and Athena were developed by Micronics and as a result are buggy, sloppy, and not really representative of SNK's internal development. And I'm probably in the minority, but I actually really dig Alpha Mission.

@rbudrick: At certain points in the game a message on the screen says "CALL" and you can hit select and see a message coming in on the radio, much like the transciever in Metal Gear. Only difference is that in Iron Tank you can't call out--you can only recieve messages.
