I am getting my computer hooked up here soon, just ordered a new ethernet card to get online and download mame on it. The guy I bought my Spiderman cabinet said that the monitor was good, but someone on here said that I should not turn on the system unless the monitor had some sort of "remote adjustment board" on it, well before I knew that I turned on.

The monitor had fuzz on it and that was it. Then I noticed that the wires went nowhere.

I am going to be getting my computer ready soon. Is there anyway I can test that monitor without wiring up the J-Pac or something?

Can I put a 25 inch tv monitor into the cabinet and get one of these:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360077733177&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fws%2Fsearch %2FSaleSearch%3Fsofocus%3Dbs%26satitle%3D360077733 177%2B%26sacat%3D-1%2526catref%253DC5%26fbd%3D1%26dfsp%3D32%26from%3 DR6%26nojspr%3Dy%26pfid%3D0%26fswc%3D1%26few%3D%26 saprclo%3D%26saprchi%3D%26fss%3D0%26saslop%3D1%26s asl%3D%26fls%3D4%2526floc%253D1%26sargn%3D-1%2526saslc%253D0%26salic%3D1%26saatc%3D1%26sadis% 3D200%26fpos%3D15101%26fsct%3D%26sacur%3D0%26sacqy op%3Dge%26sacqy%3D%26sabfmts%3D0%26saobfmts%3Dexsi f%26ftrt%3D1%26ftrv%3D1%26sabdlo%3D%26sabdhi%3D%26 saaff%3Dafdefault%26afepn%3D%26customid%3D%26afmp% 3D%26fsop%3D32%2526fsoo%253D2%26fcl%3D3%26frpp%3D5 0%26fvi%3D1

And just use a tv with an s video input?

I really dont want to buy a new friggin monitor is that one is junk since I paid 200 for the cabinet and monitor.

All you need to use a TV is a card and TV with S-Video. This is what I'm doing and games look great. It's hard to read text in Windows though, but a Mame cabinet is for playing games not clicking around in windows.

The TV's can be had for next to nothing nowadays becasue of the digital transition. Check craigslist and there's a good chance you might get one for free.

i'm using a computer with hdmi output and they work fantastic. if you have pci express slots in your computer and a tv with hdmi input i highly recommend it.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Did you check out the link above, is that the kind of card you bought? So all you do is power the tv and then us the s video, right? Where does the audio come from? Thanks

Audio comes from your sound card connected to your cabinets/computers speaker system. Don't use the TVs. It won't hurt anything, it just won't sound as good.

One thing to keep in mind when using a TV is turning it on or off. This can usually be easily done with a power strip. If your TV's like mine though, if it loses power it will reset and you might have to turn the TV back to AUX, or channel 00, or whatever your TV uses for SVIDEO input.

Other things that may or may not be acceptable to you is that some TV's display stuff on the TV occasionally. For example, mine says Svideo on the screen for a second anytime you change resolutions. It does it for me anytime I start it up or switch emulators. Not too big of a concern but some poeple may think it's an experience killer.
