I don't often do this, but if for nothing else I just want show this off and ask what you guys think the lot is actually worth? Though I know it is worth more than I paid...

I found this lot of craigslist.com simply listed as video games (Atari and Super Nintendo). Originally the guy said he wanted to sell it as one lot for $120 as he was 'selling it for a friend;' which was an apparent lie. When I called him back later he said he wanted to separate the lot into 2 lots; one SNES and one Atari, which was fine with me since I did not want the Atari Stuff anyhow. The lot price for the SNES stuff was $100 though, which was odd since it was $120 for everything???? But he took the time to read off the '30 or so games' that he had...IT TURNED OUT TO BE 72!!!!

Counting is a hard skill to find in this part of the state...

So we settle on $80, since he respects the fact that I am a poor college kid anyhow. I go to his house [after a 45 minute trip with the roomie that should have only taken 10 minutes] and it turns out to be a dilapidated shack in an ummmmm 'not so good' part of the city. It is dark out, we meet on his porch that is packed with every odd, end, and antiquey type thing you could think of...covered in God knows what.

He goes back into his house to get the games and comes out with a huge plastic bin of games that appear to be covered in dirt, dust, grass, straw, hair, poo, and probably a plethora of other body fluids; I exchange some nice words with him and go home.

It took me TWO WEEKS to clean all these games and I still don't think they are perfect. Not to mention the fact that 90% of the games had 'MURRAY' written on the fronts, backs, and tops of each game with Sharpie. WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS?!?!

After intense cleaning

Here it goes...

72 SNES games + 1 SNES System with 3 controllers, Multi-tap, Super Scope Sensor, Super Gameboy, & Game Genie + 4 NES controllers (3 original + 1 Dog Bone) + 3 Sega Genesis Controllers and Sega Genesis Power Cord + Basketball Game for original Gameboy

I give up, I can't spot the interesting finds.

If time is indeed money then you got hosed considering you spent two weeks cleaning. That's not fair though, so I'd say you got a heck of a deal. I was expecting at least one rpg in the lot, but I'd still say there's probably at least $200 there. Nice find.

Ardy Lightfoot and Fun 'n Games are both rare but usually don't fetch much. You did OK, if they all work. :)

Nah, I didn't think there was anything like an 'unreleased game' that was going to knock anyone's socks off; by interesting I just meant the Fun N' Games,Ardy Light Foot, and a few others.

In reality folks most SNES games (as with many game systems) don't fetch a ton, RPGs to me are overrated. NOT because of fun factor (I love them), just because they are not actually rare and Ebay as well as other people have artificially inflated their value.

Fun N' Games is supposedly rare, though I already have one copy (making this #2) this one seems to have a cigarette burn. Who puts out cigarettes on SNES games?! That's what babies are for...

KIDDING!

Anyhow, I feel about a dollar a game is MORE THAN fair. And as far as the time it took to clean them, I can't complain. On some sick level I enjoy it, though it was gross.

I know what you mean. There is a sense of satisfaction for me in cleaning up old games and systems. I love checking out the shine after I get done "restoring" old beauties to their previous glory :)

FYI, you can get the permanent marker off the plastic by using pure ethanol...you may have to order it from a lab supplies place though.

No my friend. I have used pure ethanol for years for video games to get Sharpie off (I have a Biology/Chemistry Degree); but let me tell you....Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will change your life!

No lie, with MCME the black sharpie wipes right off the games...amazing

Ah, my apologies, I assumed the writing was still there because you didn't know how to get it off. Bad assumption on my part.

Doesn't Mr. Clean Magic Eraser scratch plastic? I'm sort of afraid to try it...

No, it doesn't scratch it at all...it is quite soft

I know what you mean, Magic Eraser is pure awesome. I remember there were black marks on my Wiimote that would simply not come off with a soaked paper towel, but it came off like...MAGIC with the eraser.

Isn't the SNES version of Boogerman worth some monies too? Anyway you picked up a nice start to an SNES collection for a good price. And it's an experience you'll always remember. :P

Oh I will have NO trouble remembering this experience. As far as a 'start' to a SNES collection, not so much; more like a jump start back to life. I already have about 150 SNES games, so this just got the ball rolling again after a major few year slump.
