Sorry if I post this in the wrong forum, I'm not really that experienced on this forum.

I recently received a japanese version of Sonic and the Secret Ring for Nintendo Wii. It's still sealed, but I think it's not the normal retail version. First of all, the game is in a see-through case, and Wii games normally come in a white box. Second, I can see the manual, and it seems to be only a few pages, like a brochure of some kind. I have been doing some research, but I can't seem to find any decent information on the net. I have read something about a trial of Sonic & the Secret Rings, available only in Japan. I also think the serial number on this game is different from the serial number of the retail Sonic game.

Does anybody know anything about this game, or the trial I was talking about? I'll try to post some pictures too, maybe someone here know anything. And, sorry again if I posted this on the wrong forum, please move it if so :-)

That looks pretty legit to me. There's no JAN code, it's replaced by a ton of Japanese text.

Maybe it's a demo version?

The serial number on this copy is: RVL-D-DRSJ (JPN)
If I'm not mistaken, the serial number on the "normal" retail version is different.

I think it's possible it's some kind of demo/trail version, it looks pretty legit indeed. Opening the box would be the answer, but I cannot do that, as the game is still sealed :-)

The label on front might be the clue, the orange square says : TaiKenHan ... i do not know how to translate it because my japanese is very basic ...

TaiKen: Personal Experience
Han : Edition

Okay, thanks for your help! I think that answers the question. I already thought that it would be some kind of demo, and the answers here have pretty much confirmed that.

You know, you could always just open it up to play it. Thats a pretty easy way to find out. Or ask one of our Japanese speaking members to translate it for you.

I suppose I could do that, but I'd rather not rip off the sealing, the information isn't worth that much to me ;-)

If you ever open it, a pic of the disc would be nice. Screen cap of the title screen would be good too.

体験版 means trial edition.

You have a demo copy of the game.
