Howdy-
Shortly, I'll have a handful of Intellivision games for sale, signed by their author.
One of my coworkers wrote Football, Hockey, Sub Hunt, & Basketball for the Intellivision while he was at CalTech, & he also wrote M-Network Super Challenge Football for the 2600.
I'm having him sign a handful of carts with a gold paint pen.
I'll have 4 Intellivision Footballs & 1 Hockey signed & for sale.
Just posting a quick preview to see what people think these would be worth or see how much interest there is in them.
Thanks,
-Jason

Usually a signed item increases the value depending on the popularity of the person.
Who is signing the games ?
Are carts only or complete ?
:D

I don't think that Ken Smith is a "popular" classic programmer, but who am I to say...?
Some are just carts & some are complete, but those carts are pretty common, so it's not easy to get a complete set around a signed cart anyway.

Ken Smith could not be a name reconized for too many people, but for Intellivision collectors this can be interesting, you should try to upload a couple of games on ebay, with proof of your relation with him to really know its value :D

i was never into Intellivision but this is pretty cool to know the guy and get autograped carts. since there one of kind almost (depends if he has signed anything else) so hard to tell price. if u can get a picture of him signing the carts it would increase value or show people its real. i collect signed football stuff and having a picture of the person autographing the item is always a plus.

Is he aware that you're selling them?
And are you giving him a cut of the profits?

Thanks for your replies.
Yes, Ken knows what I'm doing & is amused & has been offered a cut of my profits of course.
He's never signed any carts before & is amused that people are into this enough to actually want his signature.
It will be tough to get a pic of him--I'd rather not invade his privacy further & bug him more.
On a cool note, today he dug out from his garage his original tractor-feed paper dot-matrix printout of his assembly source code & compiled machine code for M-Network Super Challenge Football, which he wrote in a handful of weeks in grad school, blowing off his classes in the process.

This is one of the great things to me about classic gaming. Games that were written by a single person. Now in a few weeks of school someone would be lucky to put together a decent flash based game.

It's very cool and would sell well to collectors if you could prove it... as anyone can sign someone's name.

What did you have in mind for proof? I can show a photo of Ken Smith signing the games, but that assumes that somebody knows what Ken Smith looks like...
Thanks,

Wow, who would bother to forge signatures of some guy nobody knows who wrote a few games 25 years ago that very few people care about today? I think if someone is out to scam people out of money, there's certainly better ways than this.
