I wanted to post a good story that almost sucked big time.
Well, Lucky for me, my 360 RRoD'ed on me, and I got even luckier, and that it also gave my copy of Rock Band lazer burn (it could have been the same time, but I do not know).
Well, I got the 360 repaired for free.
I thought that I would haggle m$ to see if I could get Rock Band replaced for free. I haggled with them for a good 20 minutes, but in the end, they said that I needed to contact EA. WTF?!? Their system scratched my game, and now I need to go contact somebody else.
For the record, I keep my system horizontal and on an pretty open surface on a table.
Now I haggled with EA through tickets. Their ticket system is similar to SOE's ticket system. After haggling with them, all they said was that they had a ups tracking number. OK? It took me updatiing my ticket about 3 or 4 times, and I found out that they sent me a new copy of Rock Band, and I did not even need to send the other one back (which would make sense, because I could have bold face lied to them to get another copy).
Well today, I got a UPS package, sure enough, it is a sealed Rock Band (software only). Awesome.
Very happy times. If you get lazer burn on a game, just haggle with the dudes, and they will eventually send you a new copy. I told them on at least 3 updates that I contacted m$ and that they said I needed to contact EA about a new copy. It is pretty awesome.
I will say flatout, please do not use this method for anything other than replacing lazer burnt games, or else you will ruin it for us that get lazer burnt games. I just wanted to share a cool story about how I was able to get this replaced for free, and now I have a lazer burnt copy as well.
If anybody wants it, it is yours. I might snag the 360 case to replace a blockbuster game case or something, but it is complete, just pay shipping.
But yeah, it is super cool that EA did that for me.
