More quotable quotes and words from Sega boss Simon Jeffrey: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/sega-ea-not-in-touch-with-hardcore-wii-is-flooded-with-crap/?biz=1
Well, atleast he's being honest in his most humble opinion. And you gotta respect that. Especially since his honest opinions are bringing the heat:rockets:

He's right with the Wii. You pretty much have to only buy 1st party games to avoid the garbage.
EA isn't that bad in my opinion.

Well, another reason why I love Sega.
I will say though as a Sega fanboy (yes, everyone on here should know that about me by now) that not all their games are bisquits and gravy. He has a pretty big ego on him thinking all their games are the best out there.
I still love Sega though, at least he is being honest.

I dunno, the Wii comments are a little dubious. "There is a lot of crap coming out for the Wii in general. But if it's not a good game, it doesn't sell." Carnival Games, anyone? "That flood of crap will die down as publishers become more coherent. The Wii is a great opportunity for hitting hardcore gamers. No one is doing that. With Mad World from Platinum Games, we are trying to show that millions of Wii games want to move on to mature games." So uh, what is Mad World really going to do that No More Heroes didn't? Why didn't Umbrella Chronicles or Zack & Wiki sell better?

Good for him! Just more reason to love sega (though it must be said they need to work at their quality as well in some areas)

So what, exactly, is Sega doing to change this? Their Wii releases haven't really been anything to write home about. Perhaps they should look in the mirror before they start talking smack.

IMO Sega needs to worry more about Sega.

These quotes win the thread.
Regarding the success of their licensed games, they might be selling well, but they're just as bad as your average Wii shovelware.

So true, especially when they have "awesome" titles like Sonic for the 360. :puke:
Sure what he says is true, but why is he talking like SEGA hasn't been shit since the dreamcast? Ya EA isn't exactly the best thing in the world but they're far far better then SEGA atm.
Though I look forward to a few of SEGAs upcoming titles (Valkyrie Chronicles, Sonic Unleashed - Whyd they go with the gay segments too :| Just leave it sonic ffs). And that's more titles I've been excited from them in like the last 5 years.
He needs to stfu and either get to crackin or fire himself or somethin :|
Iron man and Hulk sucked ass too :|

I agree with what was said about EA and the Nintendo console.
But I also agree that SEGA (today) is pretty mediocre.

If EA sucks so much, then why is Sega using one of EA's subsidiaries (Bioware) to make Sonic Chronicles?

Because Bioware doesn't suck?

Sega had the deal with Bioware long before EA bought Bioware.
With big business though no telling if Sega or Bioware new of the buyout.
As for the topic, Sega and EA are nothing now imo. Sega makes mediocre to subpar and EA makes mediocre.
I can't wait til EA starts making consoles.

I guess EA and Sega have been at each other's throats for quite a while. The EA Genesis carts look crazy because EA refused to pay Sega's licensing and manufacturing fees, so they just decided to manufacture their own Genesis carts, like Tengen and Activision before that.

Umm..they kind of already did. Sort of. They were somehow really intertwined with the 3DO. I don't know the specifics, but it didn't turn out so hot.
There is a fuckton of crap for the PS1 and PS2. Guess what Sega? They are two of the best and clearly the most popular video game systems ever made in human history.

Actually EA's Genesis games were licensed, aside from Zany Golf and Budokan. The threat of EA releasing unlicensed games resulted in a sweetheart deal for them that allowed them to continue to manufacture their own cartridges, fully licensed. EA also supported the Saturn pretty well, but then refused to release a single Dreamcast game. I'm still not sure what's up with that, but any animosity between the two companies probably comes from that situation.

Isnt this like the pot calling the kettle black? Realy now, what has sega release in the past couple years that didnt smell, look, and feel like a giant pile of horse s$%t? Every system currently has shovelware. Every system. Doesnt matter who has the most though because sega needs to worry about how sega's going to get a killer series again. What, they added guns and now swords to sonic? What's next? Sega, make something good damnit, stop paying attention to the crap others do and clean your own house.

Give that man a cookie. On one of the G4 specials (either Icons or Game Makers) with EA, the then-current of EA said that the reason the company didn't support the Dreamcast was because of how many add-ons Sega kept doing between the Genesis and Saturn releases. So after being dissappointed with the Sega Cd, 32x and all the other add-ons, EA retaliated by not supporting the Dreamcast at all. And as one would assume, Sega has been bitter about this ever since:wink 2:

Guessing it had nothing to do with how Sony gave EA a rather good head's up with the dev tools for the PS2 long before it's release?

or the fact that EA and Sega were competitors with their respective sports lines, and EA buying the exclusive rights for practically every single professional sports license thereby effectively shutting out Sega Sports?

I don't buy that explanation. EA had no problem releasing Sega Saturn and Genesis games in 1997. No add-ons were active at that point, and no new add-ons came out or were announced after that. EA never had a huge stake in the Sega CD or 32x to begin with.
The whole situation is just really silly of EA. Dreamcast had, at the time, the most successful launch in gaming history and also reached 1 million units faster than any previous system. EA released a game for the bloody Gizmondo, which everybody knew to be a flop before it was released. Sega CD somehow makes Gizmondo a more worthy platform than Dreamcast?
And none of this explains why they specifically said they'd support Dreamcast after one million systems were in people's homes, and then didn't do that.

In my eyes sega QUIT so they are in no position to say anything. and I agree they left us holding the bag too many times. I will never figure out the dreamcast flop. How do you go from the best launch to quit in such a short time is beyond me.

Because simple-minded yokels (evidently, the majority of the world's population) believed every word of Sony's ridiculous hype at the time and refused to buy a Dreamcast. When I worked at EB, one thing I kept hearing from customers was, "The PlayStation 2 can launch missiles!"
Yeah, so? Even if that were true, what does that have to do with anything?
"Um, well...it has graphics that are as good as Toy Story!"
No, it doesn't.
"Oh yeah? Well...well...it has a DVD player built-in."
So what? Right now, you can buy a Dreamcast and a proper DVD player with remote control for less than the price of the PlayStation 2.
"Yeah...but...the PlayStation 2 can launch missiles!"
I give up.

I whole-heartedly agree. I remember back in 2000 or so when all the PS2 hype was beginning to build, and overhearing very similar conversations at the local Software Etc. I think the worst part about it was the clerks that worked there at the time were the biggest doofuses and spread it like the friggin' gospel.
If it weren't for them, we may have seen Shenmue 3 (OK, that was a bit of an exaggeration.)
