So I bought an Atari 4 switch black model (has 4 switches and 2 controller ports on the back along with the difficulty switch and channel switches) well it came with the cord attached to it obviously, but it didn't come with a power cord and I was wondering if you could use any ol' power cord that will fit in it or does it have to be like Atari made?

I don't think it has to be made by Atari, but if it fits it should at least match the 9V DC 500mA output of the original. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on the subject can help you out.

alright thanks, yea I think any one will fit but where you put the end of the cord is just a silver ring and just looked like it needed a special AC adapter or whatever.

Yes, it doesn't have to be an Atari specific power supply. Just make sure that it meets the output specifications:

Atari 2600, Sears Telegames Video Arcade, Atari Video Pinball, Coleco Gemini
CO16353, CO16353, CO10472
Output: 9VDC 500mA
Connector: TS plug 3.5mm (3.5mm mono plug)
Polarity: positive tip

The amperage doesn't need to be an exact match, but it has to be either the same or greater. Voltage can also vary a little since the 2600 has an internar voltage regulator.
