is there any current online stores that sell FC to NES converters?

Just curious, is there any current stores that sell FC to US NES converters. I was thinking of picking one up so that I can just use a Retro Duo to play all my NES needs. Do converters work on them or the FC twin?

i hope i know what your asking but im almost positive that both the fc twin and the retro duo play both famicom games and nes games.

I don't think so, since they both lack the Famicom pin connector. They CAN play Super Famicom games, however.

I can tell you that Famicom games work on the Retro Duo with an adapter. I have never seen an FC Twin IRL, so I can't say anything about that.

You need an adapter to run FC games on a Retro Duo, an FC Twin, or any other system that only has a US 72 Pin input.

Generation Nex has a dedicated 60 Pin input on the top.

As stated above, InsaneDavid makes nice ones out of first-run Gyromite boards, since those use original Nintendo hardware, there's no question that they'll work 100% of the time.

If you want brand-new "HoneyBee" style adapters, I get mine from here, good build quality - much better than the ones coming out of HK and Japan in the 80s. (They have reinforced plastic around the 72-Pin output chip, which is usually the first thing to break when pushing a cartridge into a top-loading system like a Retro Duo).

you know way back in the day i opened up and old excitebike cart and used the adapter in that for imports. you can always try that.
basicly what you got to find is any original nes cart open it up and you should see a adaptor.
problem is knowing witch carts will have it.
notorius are the following carts:
gyromite
super mario bros.
excitebike
stack-up
urban champion
hogans alley

basicly you an tell if the cart is heavier then the others.

story is that nintendo to cut costs when the nes was first released in the USA they used up some old carts for the famicom and just included the adapter.

As I've said many times, that's not how you tell. ;) Also have to remember that converter rich or not, there are different board versions with different configurations (full IC's vs. globtops for example). I can tell the difference between an early era cartridge that has a converter and one that doesn't with 100% accuracy simply by looking at one part of the cartridge.

Simply by looking at the cartridge revision, this can be found to the right side of the word "CAUTION" in the back label of the cartridges, if there are the letters "REV-A" or above, you are out of luck...

Correct, but if they say "Rev-A" then they're three screw cartridge shells with security screws, which never have converters in them to begin with. Five screw shells will not say "Rev-A" and will have standard screw heads, however not all five screw shells (non "Rev-A") will contain converters. There's something far easier to check, but them being five screw early releases is part of it, makes it easier to narrow down for the real check.

The Play n Trade down the street from me has one for $8.99. I had to look twice to see that it was famicom to NES and not the other way around.

Not sure why you are being so secretive about how to determine what carts have converters. Anyone who wants to know, just look at the copper teeth. If the teeth have a little "tit" that comes out of the center of the teeth it doesnt have a converter. If the teeth have a little "tit" that comes out of the side of the teeth, BINGO!!!
