Looking back upon my childhood memories more like teen days I remember seeing the Sega Genesis on Tv and how much I wanted to get one. Well I remember going over to a Friends house and playing Revenge of Shinobi and having my jaw drop at the graphics and Super Soundtrack I had to have one. I remember that Sega at one time was having a promotion where if you bought a sega genesis they would give you a free game and a power base converter for free. So one day having nothing to do I sent sega of america a letter in which i stated I had bought a genesis unit and sent away for the free game and converter the game I picked was last battle. Well of course I never bought a genesis but later I got a reply from sega of america in which they asked if I had a reciept for my purchase in which again made me reply another long thought out letter about how thier promotion asked that you sent in the original reciept and that indeed I have not made a copy of the reciept because I was so excited to get a free game and converter. Well I didnt hear back from Sega of America for a long time but one day as I came back from a long day of school I walked in to see on my kitchen table a box from sega of america and inside was a letter of apology from sega my free game and converter, it said something about sega not running propagandas and that if Sega honors it's promotions and because of the huge demands for that promotion it might have been lost. Well what can I say I it's not something I was proud of doing but I thought I had to get it off my chest, lol And if your reading this Sega Im truly sorry, Well it cant be all that bad if I had not done that I would have never got a genesis and known the greatness that is Sega and in turn you have won over a Fan for life, thanks for the great memories SEGA.

Thanks

Yeah, it's people like you that caused Sega to run in the red and have to stop making consoles.

(actually...remember when the Dreamcast rebate promotion first came out and it was $50? For some reason Sega sent me two checks. It was all good though, because a few weeks later, they upped the rebate to $100 anyway.. :))

Neo-Jorge, that's badass, but because of what you did, you are the sole reason that the DC and Saturn failed, and for that you shall DIE!!!1 LOL

Nice contribution to the thread.

I think I have an ample amount of quality posts to balance out this particular one. Can you say the same?

Since we're having video game confessionals I thought I'd share mine.

I too screwed Sega out of some money, but more importantly I took The Good Guys for some cash. They have a good selection but they can be pricks sometimes (at least all the guys in stores around here).

Anyways, When sega had the 50 dollar rebate that preceded their price drop from 149 to 99 dollars, there was a week between when one ended and the other began. both happened to coincide with a double your money back guarantee that the good guys was having, which stated that if there was an ad price lower than the price you paid for something, the good guys would give you double your money back. So...

I bought the Dreamcast for 149.00 and sent in the rebate for 50 dollars. Then, a couple days later when the price dropped, I showed an ad to The Good Guys, who cut me a check for 100.00 (double the difference). I returned the DC and bought another one for 99.00. When all was said and done, I got 50 from Sega, 50 from the return/repurchase, and 100 from The Good Guys. So I got a free DC and I made 50 bux.

Ok maybe I don't feel as bad as I should. Oh well.

Damn, Fluke, that's absolutely brilliant. Wish I could think of something like that. Best my friend and I came up with was to buy bunch of copies of Beach Spikers (sega again, eh?) when they were $10.00 at best buy, and then trade them in for credit at the local gamestop (they were giving like, $20 in credit or something, I think). Sadly, we got the last two copies our Bes Buy had, and by the time we got to the next nearest one, it was closed. Ah well.

Fluke,

I don't think you did anything wrong. You just played the system. You didn't create it, you just exploited it.

I can see why one might feel the need to confess for deliberately deceiving a company in order to get something free.

I exploited the system a while back. I would take advantage of the trade in 3 crappy games, get the latest (wanna-be) big seller free. Then I would return the game for full credit and get the game(s) I wanted that wasn't in the trade in 3 deal.

I never felt I was doing something wrong. I just played the system.
