Remeber Brian Provinciano and his ambitious GrandTheftEndo project (which would appear to have stalled indefinitiely) ?

Well, it seems he updated his site a few months ago and nobody noticed. Looks like you can now build your own Devtendo development kit, if you're so inclined. (I have no idea if this would somehow be a lower-cost alternative to the Powerpak, but it's still kind of nifty.)

This wouldn't work as a PowerPak replacement. The PowerPak includes software that emulates the cartridge mappers (the chips in the cart that make things like special effects and other nifty stuff), but this one seems to only emulate a few MMC mappers.

It's interesting if you want to code something, but not if you're a casual user.

Not bad, though.
