The wife and I are taking a trip up to Chicago, and then over to Niagara Falls. Being out and about like this, I could make time to "detour" to a classic gaming store or two but I'm not sure what's out there. I'll be driving through:

Chicago, IL
Detroit, MI
Indianapolis, IN
Columbus, OH
St. Louis. MO
Terre Haute, IN
Jamestown, PA
Akron, OH
Cleveland, OH
Springfield, IL
Toronto, ON
Buffalo, NY

Any good stores that I could hit in these towns?

Buyatari's store is in the cleveland area somewhere. I used to visit his location on the west side, but, sadly, it closed down. I'm not sure where the east side location is, but you might want to PM him and ask. Other than that, we don't have much.

If you can give me an idea of what you are mainly collecting for right now: I can help with a few places in Columbus, OH. I have no problem divulging my sources :)

in St. Louis there is a store, well actually one guy. THE GAME TRADER (the people that hang out in this place are classic) He has alot of cool rare and import items for mainly disc based games and some sweet Neo Geo stuff as well.

Skip detroit, this place sucks. Not a damn thing to be found in the wild in this area. We get great places like Gamestop... and gamestop. Near where I live there are 3 gamestops on the corner of one major intersection. All within line of sight of eachother... what the hell is the point?

I've been to buyatari's eastside Cleveland store. It's on E.185 St. in Euclid, OH (just east of Cleveland proper), but the exact address escapes me. I believe it's called "CD Game Exchange".

Heh.. .I'm looking for Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Intellivision, Jaguar, Master System, XE/XL, Lynx, GameGear. I can find older NES stuff anywhere around here, but the other stuff is getting harder to find.

Yep! I've got his card in my wallet. I've hit it twice on the way through there, and plan on hitting it on the way back. When I was there a few months ago.. there were a bunch of people setting up for some big Halo thing on the Xbox.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this...in Columbus there are a lot of places...not too many sell the older stuff (or I've bought it all already... :D )

Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Intellivision, Jaguar, Master System, XE/XL, Lynx, GameGear...

As far as I've seen: forget 5200, 7800, Jaguar, Master System (unless you need dirt commons), XE/XL, and Lynx in Columbus...

For everything else...if you have time for just one store, I'd have to recommend the Trading Zone in the Carriage Court strip mall on the corner of Bethel and Sawmill (NW corner of town...)

My personal favorite store to go to is the Video Game Express in Pickerington (far east side), but they don't have a whole lot of old stuff (anymore)

Hope that helps a little...
