So i'm just starting to get into 2d fighters in a big way (i know i know i missed the train by about 15 years) and one series that's always stood out for its amazing visuals and seemingly very indepth gameplay is the guilty gear series. Now with 10 or more installments to this series the question is, Where should i start? Which games in this series are the best in terms of gameplay and visuals, which have the most indepth featuresets (unlockables extra modes), and which have the deepest gameplay. Alternatively feel free to bash this series until i'm not even that interested in playing it if you think its horrible. Oh and i'm sorry if theres already a thread along these lines i never have much luck with the search (always insists I'm using search terms under 4 chars even when I'm not!)

I would say just go for guilty gear xx accent core either on wii or ps2. They axed the story a bit but every mode is solid and the characters are the most balanced. if you want to step into the series at a cheaper price guilty gear xx # reload for xbox is the cheapest option and is between guilty gear xx and accent core in balancing (the US did not get xx slash but that is technically the last one before accent core.

if you plan on importing fighters i suggest picking of Sengoku Basara X for ps2. In my opinion its probably the best game by arc system works since guilty gear to date and is an amazing fighter.

its not bad but the US one is crappy becuase its on the xbox, the controller is agonizing for fighters. atleast the US version of guilty gear judgement has a full playable version of # reload.

i dunno i liked the xbox controller. a lot less finger blistering than the ps2... the street fighter controllers werent bad either.

plus im almost certain that its backwards compatible with the 360.

either way i thought the game was great (and yes, i was happy to see it and judgement on the psp)
