Just curious. I have some PS1 games that could use some new cases, what would this do to their overall value if I replaced them? Note that the ones I'm replacing have a lot of sticker goo or are cracked in some way.

Some collectors have very high standards, but even they replace jewel cases :D
The only irreplaceable case are the ones that came in double boxes but only had 1 disc; like legaia, tactics ogre ... those had the PS logo on it :D
so do not worry too much about it :D
replacing them with standard "premium quality" jewel cases is fine I think ;p i don't think there's any distinguishing marks on the regular cases :o

its nothing man, I do it all the time. It looks exactly the same except the one you replace it with has no crack! :-D

Personally, when I have a case with a crack/scratch/whatever, I just replace the piece that is damaged. No point in wasting what's still usable.

You can remove goo from your cases with Goo Gone or WD-40. Soak them when it's real bad.

It's a cd jewel case. As long as the CD tray is clear (and in the case of single Double Jewel Case games has the PlayStation specific tray) you're good to go with a new case.

I think everyone does this. No harm in it.

Thanks for the responses guys. My main concern was that I noticed the center holder for PS1 games differs between the originals and my replacements. Here's a site with both so you know what I mean:

The original cases had the star-shaped ribbing, and the ones I got to replace them with had the open center ribbing.

What I do is just replace the outside 2 pieces of the case and keep the middle piece unless the CD holder is broken. If thats the case then I just replace that too, It doesn't make a whole lot of difference, nobody really cares about that little detail.
