So I have not played my Sega CD in probably like 2 years, but I got a game in the mail today that made me want to fire it back up again.

I have the model 1 (bottom loading) with the model 1 genesis. I do not have the metal plate to hold them intact if that matters (but I remember playing without it before). I have them connected together both using their own AC adapters, the bulky ones that say for use with sega genesis (Model 1602 120v 60hz 35w) but when I power on the genesis with no cart I only get a static screen showing the earth, no animations or anything, the Sega CD shows no signs of life. Now this thing has been sitting on a shelf for awhile not moving, but I did play it maybe 1.5-2 years ago, I hope I am just missing something or doing something wrong...any ideas? I hope the sega cd is not dead.

Whenever I hear of a non-functional Sega CD, I think of a blown fuse.

I'd search the Technical and Restoration subforum though, there's more than a few Sega CD discussions in there.

If you are getting part of the Sega Cd intro, I'll say there must be a communication problem within the 2 systems. Try cleaning with alcohol/q-tip the Genesis/Cd bus expansion port connector as well as the Sega Cd connector.
