Who didn't see this one coming? In the annual tradition of video game lore, there is always one golden rule that shall forever be adhered to: you piss off the talent and you get the horns. Of course I'm paraphrasing, but you get the point:http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/tecmo-president-yoshimi-yasuda-leaves-under-dark-cloud-of-legal-action/?biz=1
The good news is(and this is clearly speculation on my part) Itagaki san will come back and delight us all with the next installments of the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games. He'll continue to besmirch the Tekken series and will resume his life of being a ghetto fabulous video game rockstar. Also, other game companies need to take note of this{looks in EA's direction } If you don't treat your talent with the respect they deserve, 9 out of 10 times it will come back to bite you in the ass and not in the way you like...you kinky mofos.
Glad to hear it. I want my Ninja Gaiden III from Itagaki, not some new team.

If it's any consolation, Itagaki and company were the new team on the franchise at one point. And just about every long running franchise has gone through their share of teams. So even if Itagaki doesn't come back, all hope is not lost.

Am I the only one who thinks the Team Ninja games are way overhyped? Is there a game I missed that will make it all make sense to me? I never found Dead or Alive to be much as a fighting game and Ninja Gaiden just doesn't do it for me. Honest question, because I've always found Itagaki's attitude to be way out of line with the games he makes.

Don't you automatically hate every modern game that's not a 2-D shooter or some ironic The Price is Right thing?

Don't you automatically come out of hiding about once a month to take a shot at something I've posted? Seriously dude, if you have a problem with me, feel free to PM. The random snipes are getting a bit old.

Sorry to all the fans, but Ninja Gaiden II was terrible. It was an absolute horror to control, was nothing but guts and blood, and just generally an over-hyped pile of dog poo.
I'm glad I rented it before I bought it. giving Itagaki the boot may actually bring NG back to its roots.

I hope that Yasuda San does not commit suicide ... Japanese are way too serious about situations like this. The problem with Itakagi San was a proof of the poor management at TECMO.

You are not alone. Never really liked anything from Team Ninja either.

How was it a horror to control? I actually liked it more than the first game. The suicidal enemies forced you to go on the offensive instead of playing defensively, like the first game allowed you to for the majority of the time. The Obliteration Techniques added a new and exciting gameplay mechanic. The new weapons were much cooler than the ones in the first game. I don't see how you could not like the game if you're a fan of the first.

Agreed.
I thought NG2 was, at least, on par with the first one. But my only complaint was making it easier for the casual gamer. I love games that kick your ass and leave you begging for more. Hell - the original Xbox Gaiden took me a little over a year to beat. I beat NG2 in about 2 days.
Besides that, I loved NG2. Not as much as the first one, but I still loved it.
But bck to the original topic - I don't see Itakagi ever returning to Tecmo.

You might be waiting a long time. Then again, Itagaki's not always one to stick to his plans.

Capt Wrong, Scoots, Kid Fenris, Leave the squabbling outta the thread.
**on topic**
I've tried to like much of the Team Ninja stuff of late, but either the AI is set to god mode even at lower difficulties (Ninja Gaiden) or the bosses/fighters are cheap (DoA 3/4) to the point that I'm not going to toss controllers through the walls because a game with that kind of challenge isn't remotely fun and I stop playing them far to early because of that. I won't care that Itagaki could come back. Let him go on to try and do something new. Maybe i'll be less biased about it that way.

I'm right there with ya' bud. My close friend raves about this stuff and I just don't see what the big deal is. The Ninja Gaiden games are just Shinobi on the PS2 with a few extras. Dead or Alive is funny because of the beautiful Engrish, but pretty boring after an hour.
Itagaki's over-inflated ego reminds me Killing Joke's in the 80's. They talked so much shit about every other artist in their field, but they were making discoey post-punk pseudo-metal like everybody else was. I don't get it.
I also can't really get into anything from Ubisoft for some reason, but that's another story.

You mean side-scrolling ninja action with suicidal birds?

The good news is(and this is clearly speculation on my part) Itagaki san will come back and delight us all with the next installments of the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games and fun harassment suits and buffoonery that will entertain us inbetween releases of games for his two franchises
Expanded for the lulz.
That said, I didn't realize other people were claiming unpaid overtime as well.

I'm sorry, office harassment is never funny.
I'll never do it again, I swear.
Itagaki's posturing still is fun and entertaining though!
And another "not quite" to the idea he's coming back anytime soon...but hey, I'll be hopeful even though it's not gonna happen.

Damn...I thought you were on the phone with Itagaki and he was givin' you the inside scoop.
Guess I'll have to rethink my sources for the next issue of Inside Illuminati.

I was but because of the impending lawsuit he wasn't allowed to give out details. Stupid court gag orders:(

But, yeah...I don't think Itagaki can go back. He burned a few bridges there.

I agree with you 100%. The Dead or Alive games are some of the worst fighting games I have ever played. I am not sure why so many people have a hardon for "team ninja".

The jury's still out on my opinion for Dead or Alive. However, I do really like the modern-day Ninja Gaiden games, yet I recognize where others would not. I think the team is overrated, but they're still good developers.

While I am one of the many Team Ninja fans, I think the "hard-on" in which you speak of is directed mainly at the Dead or Alive chix. I prefer real woman but some dudes like their woman pixelated.
