One of my all time favorite gaming journalist(and perhaps the most recognizable one of all) just got promoted to an Executive at Spike. Now he has even more stroke when it comes to what types of gaming content/shows appear on Spike: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/features/exclusive-geoff-keighley-promoted-to-executive-status-at-spike/?biz=1

I have been a fan of Geoff's articles in OXM and all of his work on the various G4 tv shows and specials he did (G4tv.com, Electric Playground, E3 specials and so many more) for quite some time. And I honestly think that not only has this been long over due, but also he deserves this more than any other video game journalist out there(except for me of course, but no one really cares about me) and I'm very happy for him. Gooooooooooo Geoff:cheers:

I concur. They guy has about as much personality as a doorknob IMO.
I couldn't stand the stuff he did on G4 and does on Spike, he's very bland, and for some reason he just seems like a brown-noser. I can't explain why, but I often think it's the only reason he's had any success on TV given the fact that he has virtually no charisma.

Agreed, he always seems to be a yesman for the industry. As for Adam Sessler, I met him a couple times during the ZDTV / early TechTV days and to me it seemed like he simply truly loved video games. Come on, anyone whose favorite game is Ghosts 'n Goblins has to be alright.

Not sure why Spike is wasting money on making someone an "Executive in Charge of Video Game Publisher Relations" considering they have a total of one video game show and it's not even produced in-house. At first I thought he was going to work on bringing in advertisers, but it doesn't sound like a sales job. Whatever, sometimes these are just honorary positions with fairly limited salaries done as a favor for a friend.

Damn, I didn't realize we had so many Keighley haters on this site. Granted, he may not be the most charismatic video game personality out there, but would you rather have someone like Olivia Munn doing what he does? Also, while you may not like Geoff personally, keep in mind that this is the same dude that so convincingly defended our beloved video game hobby on tv against Fox news and that punk ass book author earlier this year. They failed to make Mass Effect look like low budget anime porn and Geoff succeeded at making them look like fools on national tv for not knowing what the hell they were talking about. Not that many people could have pulled that off with such a rational and intellegent manner but Geoff made it look easy.

I don't give a damn what the guy in chief's favorite game is, or what his personality is like, so long as he's giving all gamers a voice.

If this guy says "let's be critical of the industry now and then in a fair way" and "let's discuss all types of games" then I'm all for it.
