I was wondering if anyone can remember the motto used for their childhood console for yesteryear. I can think of some, such as Nintendo's Now you are playing with power!, but I am having a hard time thinking of Compainies such as Sony for the Playstation one or the Sega Saturn. What catchy phrases did they use to push those sytems?

I remember PlayStation was "Live in your world, play in ours" with some of the letters swapped for the triangle, circle, square, and X buttons.
And while I can't recall one for Sega Saturn, these commercials are great:

Atari had one that was "Don't watch television tonight - play it!"
I'm sure more will come to me...
EA: It's in the game will always haunt me ;p Though that's not a console ;p
Um
Genesis does what Nintendont.

Seems most of the main ones have been covered. The earliest videogame memory I have is from TV, and it was the commercial where the tagline was something like "it's the 26 Hundred from A-TAR-I"

To this day I have this habit of whispering "It's thinking." whenever I'm waiting for a server to do something if I've got someone around at the time. I got a huge kick out of that slogan.
Now you're playing with power.... COLECO power.
For the life of me I can't remember the Coleco one.

While it wasn't a slogan per se, I always loved the Neo Geo 'Max-330 Mega Pro Gear Spec'. I've been known to use it in casual conversation...

"Hell yeah I did. It was Max-330 Mega Pro Gear Spec!"

U R not e - always one of my favorites.
That was the first one that came to my mind. I think that was officially the first mainstrea use of leet speak.
I know this isin't actually a "tag line" but dring the build up to the launch of the Dreamcast the commercials had this little 9.9.99 chime in the end of each commercial.
The PSP had those squirrles that talked hella ghetto. Those were my favorite commercials. I just remember something about playing with nuts or something like that.

I remember those squirrels saying "I'd hit that" about Daxter. Which makes it the first commercial to pander to the gay furry crowd.

"4-dimensonal realism"? So like, the Neo Geo has realistic time travel? And they got the graph wrong -- the number of sound channels for NEC and Sega is reversed.
I agree about the "Genesis does" commercials. Why are they singing? And I like how the first time they use the line "you can't do this on Nintendo!" they're showing Columns... which could totally be done on Nintendo.

I thought the TurboGrafx-16 and the Sega Genesis both produce six channels of audio, not ten.

Also, the only part of Pat Riley Basketball that was shown was the close-up cinema scenes. Where's the actual in-game footage, Sega?

I thought the TurboGrafx-16 and the Sega Genesis both produce six channels of audio, not ten.
The Genesis has 6 channels of FM synthesis (one of which can be PCM instead of FM), but it also has 3 PSG channels and one noise channel... for a total of ten. The Turbo has 6 PSG channels, two of which can be converted to LFO and another two can be converted to noise channels. The Turbo CD adds one PCM channel (when not using redbook audio).

Wait for...Nintendo Ultra 64!
It may not be the best slogan ever, but it worked on me..... I waited, and waited, for the 18 months it took between japanese and UK releases, then bought one on day of launch.
Good job I had a saturn and PS1 to keep me busy in the mean time!

Sega Saturn had the Theater of the Mind thing. Not sure if it was slogan or an advertising campaign, but I don't think it went over too well.

PSOne - "Whenever. Wherever. Forever."
I really liked that one...how can it not resonate with the gaming community? Even though I wasn't a big Playstation fan at the time, between the console redesign and this slogan I thought Sony did a great job of sending the Playstation 1 into retirement on a high note.
