Ben Judd, Capcom's Bionic Commando (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bionic-commando), er ... commander, reports in his latest blog entry that the PSN/XBLA/PC release, Bionic Commando Rearmed (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bionic-commando-rearmed), saw combined first-week sales of 130,000 copies across the three platforms. The news prompted Judd to exclaim, "Holy fiddlesticks!"

Judd qualified his excitement, saying, "That may not seem impressive compared to package titles that sell in the millions but compared to other digital titles that is a friggin juggernaut!" Seemingly very pleased with not only the reviews (which are averaging above 80%) and sales of his first game as producer, he made a point to let gamers know how they've impacted Capcom's digital strategy going forward. "Basically, we have set a standard in digital gaming," he said, adding, "The bar has been raised and you have let developers around the world know that if they invest the time, money, and heart into making (and remaking) some great games, you will support that initiative."

We have a pretty good feeling that, following the success of BC:R, Judd's going to have a much easier time getting Capcom brass behind whatever project he chooses to tackle next.

Glad to hear it, the game certainly deserves it. It's easily the best remake ever IMO, and I hope it's the first of many that we'll be seeing on XBLA/PSN.

Great news to hear. Now I just need to invest in a next gen console.

You know, the industry needs about 1,000 other people with influence like him. Gosh I love it when a company actually listens to its fanbase. I love capcom!

What's weird - the 360 version has the lowest metascore, and the PC version has the highest.

That weirds me out in just so many ways. And I have no idea why... But everyone and their mother knew this game would sell to the old NES players.

I almost wet myself when Capcom announced 2 different Bionic Commandos.

It's a great game and it totally deserves every sale they made. Capcom is kicking ass all over this generation.

Yea, they threw away a lot of easy sales by not going through with the Steam version. Jerks :(

Let's hope that the success of Bionic Commando Rearmed will help push their hand towards creating a remake of the NES Strider :D

Nice to see that the game did well, now if they would release a patch to fix the deadly freezing problems, I won't have to worry about losing my data because the game froze when it was saving.

QFT.

This is best game on PSN/XBLA hands down. I'm glad it's doing so well.

I can't believe I forgot about this one. Gonna have to check the demo.

I agree with you - I'm glad it's doing well. Yes I still like owning physical game boxes, but on the other hand I like being able to buy a new game for my machine for only $10 a *lot* ...

Here's hoping they decide to make a sequel to Rearmed in the same style. Honestly the upcoming full 3D version doesn't interest me nearly as much as another pseudo 2D version would.

I'm glad I downloaded it on my PS3 when it came out. Its a really fun game and well worth the download for anybody that has the system it has been put on. I do wish there was a way to unlock the original version of the game somehow (there very well could be for all I know) but it gets two thumbs up from me either way.

Is it because of the horrible 360 D-Pad (which will hopefully be fixed in the new design)?

Which is why I play BC:R with my DOA4 stick. I thought the PS3 version handled just as bad as the 360 version.

My hands are too big for the PS3 d-pad. But you are correct - the 360's d-pad is no better.

Its also due to the XBLA version being far more compressed then the other 2, resulting in much longer loading times.

The Dualshock 3's D-pad is 8-direction, while the 360 D-pad is just 4-direction. All is not lost though...Kotaku had an article last week that mentioned the new 360 D-pad will be 24-direction!

Yeah, too bad it's an ugly shade of green and will only be availabe in Europe for a limited time.

This is great news. I hope that more old games get the same treatment that this one did. I just love the 2d style that they went with for this game.

Only that specific controller. MS reps confirmed the new design would be incorporated into all 360 controllers. Who knows when they'll hit the US though?
