I just have a question about these boxes. Knowing how they are made out of weak cardboard, when you display your collection do you keep the games inside the box? or the games separate so you won't have to open up the box too many times and damage it.

I personally prefer the boxes to show off the collection but i keep the games next to them so i don't wear the boxes out.

I used to keep them separate but as I ran out of room for that, I started keeping them in the boxes. I really don't open and play them enough to really do any damage to the boxes.

I keep the ones I play out without the boxes, and the ones that I don't play much if ever I just keep in the boxes.

I usually buy 3 copies of important games ... one sealed, one to see what's inside and keep it mint .. and one copy to play and sell after playing the game.

If the game is not that important, i have the game on my system and keep it there until i finish it to avoid damage ...

like a good book, i like to play just one game at the time and enjoy every bit of it

I just keep NES, SNES, and N64 games in their boxes, unless I'm playing through a game or will be playing it on a regular basis in the future.

However, none of my GBC and GBA games that have their boxes and manuals are stored in their boxes - the carts are small enough that I can keep them in a plastic box and they won't take up too much space. I don't have any boxed or complete GB or Game Gear games, but I'd do the same with them.

I do the same thing with my handheld games. Although I've only got about 6 boxes for handhelds.

I keep everything in the boxes. For SNES, I managed to get a bunch of those semi-rigid plastic cases that the rental stores used to display the boxes in. All my SNES boxes are in those to keep the boxes from being crushed. I don't play my SNES stuff often enough to worry about box damage and honestly....first off, they're all used, second, I'm probably never selling em so it doesn't matter anyway.

For GB/GBC/GBA, I keep everything in the boxes as well.

I use universal game cases from mediashelving.com with covers from thecoverproject.net.

I display the carts by themselves and store the boxes elsewhere. I don't have enough room for the boxes and as a child, many of them were cut up and put into plastic display boxes. :-(

Trust me, this has been a real investment; games like CHRONO TRIGGER, SUIKODEN II, LITTLE SAMSON, NES SUPER MARIO BROS., FINAL FANTASY VII, NINJA GAIDEN TRIOLGY, QUADRUN and many more have increased its value more than 1500 % in some cases :D

hehehehe, i have sold a few when i need to. Ebay of course :D

Well me, like a kid with ADD, I can never concentrate on just one game at a time.

Most of my SNES and N64 games are factory sealed so they are displayed pretty easily stacked on top of each other. As for my opened copies, they stay at the top of the stack so that they don't get crushed.

I definitely hate how weak the boxes are once they are opened. I wish they would have made clamshells for them instead, like the Genesis games.

On a side note, Super Famicom boxes are MUCH stronger than Snes boxes.

I have my US complete N64 collection boxed spined out in alphabetical order. I keep all the games inside the boxes, and have clear box protectors over the boxes to ensure that they stay in the best shape possible. If the box gets a little beat up over time, I just deal with it. The reason I got into this hobby was the fact that I could play my collection.

Any pictures? I'd love to see a complete N64 collection.
