I've read quite a few people on this board have shopped at the Goodwill for some of their games, and that got me thinking: Is it really that good a place to go? Have you found anything realy extraodinary/rare there? And what have their prices been like when you find something?

Let's see Regular good will... not much
Goodwill Surplus store (often part of the regular goodwill building, sometimes a seperate store): Chase the Chuckwagon $0.25, NES Toploader $1.00

Whoh. I gotta go there more often then. The only thing I've ever found at mine (I've only really gone once) was Ice Hockey for the Master System.

Hey, I didn't know there were more than one type of Goodwill. Just found out all the ones around here are the "regular" ones. No wonder I've never found anything! :(

Hi Everyone,
Excuse my ignorance, but since all Goodwill's in my area went out of business last month, can someone explain the difference between the different types of Goodwills? I've only see several of the same kind....places where they sell used crap.
Thanks!
Yours,
Rob

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that places with one Goodwill store that gets overrun with stuff open a Surplus store. I don't have on in my town, but that's my thought.

I don't know about a "surplus" store, but I do know that we have a "regular" Goodwill nearby us, and we also have a Goodwill warehouse, which is open every other Saturday, and where you can buy clothes by the pound. I'm not really sure if they sell anything else there.. I haven't been to it.

Yeah it's basically that: big bins where U can buy clothes by the pound, broken toys, computers, and sometimes video-games for Low-LOW prices. Nothing's guaranteed to work, though.
