Ghostbusters cancelled?

Does anyone know about this game being cancelled? I preordered it, and got a call today saying it was cancelled. Anyone know why?


I was really really really looking forward to this game. One of like 4 games I have ever preordered.

mmm... it's a long story but the devs and vivendi are swearing up and down that it it's cancelled, but gamestop pulled the preorders. That does not mean it's been cancelled ;p it does mean that there is currently no release date though :P

It's not cancelled, the release date is just in limbo. I wouldn't bet on it coming out this fall, at any rate.

I hope it's not dead in the water. It appeared to have a lot of potential. I did hear the gameplay was somewhat underwhelming, however.

There's probably something going on behind-the-scenes money related with all of the rights-owners (movie, characters, etc.) that we're not privy to.

Hah I heard it was just waiting to find a new publisher. It was funny to see it on an Ad on Xbox Live about 2-3 weeks ago as a NEW RELEASE for that week. I thought to myself, wait...thats not coming out yet....

You don't employ Harold Ramis, Dan Aakroyd, and Bill Fucking Murray and then cancel the project they helped create. Trust me, it ain't gonna be canceled.

There was a HUGE amount of hype and promotion for it as this year's Comic-Con. I really doubt it's going to be yanked.

I remember reading something not too long ago about fears of the game being canceled, it stated that there was nothing to worry about and that the game was in no trouble. It also had a cover on some magazines a few months ago, so all of the coverage and hype for the game would be pointless.

But hey, it wouldn't be the first time this type of thing has happened.

Sierra and Activision are merging or something, that's why this is delayed until next year.

Blizzard and Activision recently merged...and in doing so they also said that they will not be publishing Ghostbusters (atleast not anytime this year). Therefore the release date of 10/21 for Ghostbusters will certainly not be met.
However, I don't see this game getting cancelled at all...the Ghostbusters just need to find someone to publish their game. And both Terminal Reality and Vivendi have stood there ground promising that this game is not going to be cancelled.

I know this sounds bad, but I won't buy a single Activision game ever again unless this comes out. Put my reserve towards Star Wars force unleashed

If they don't release this game I will be sooooo dissapointed. I even have a ghostbusters type backpack thing.
