Anyone know much about this game? Rarity? Availability? I've NEVER seen or heard of it, but I'm picking it up for $20. Sounded so interesting that I wanted it. The concept reminds me vaguely of Lolo.
Here's the site (in Japanese): http://golem.dricas.ne.jp/
And the Exite translator I use: http://www.excite.co.jp/world/url/
To use the translator, click the second little circle under the box, then put the URL in the box and click the Orange button after the arrow. Works WAY better than Babelfish!
I have it, and don't think it's super rare. Could be wrong; I'm no expert on such things.
I got it for $20ish new from VGD (after they raved about it, and before I knew how suspect their taste was) but only played it once. It's kind of a mind fucker, and I'm just a simple action gamer.

My story is like BenT's... I bought the game because videogamedepot.com was pushing it hard and it was cheap. I didn't like it at all, though I could see the appeal (it kinda plays like Lemmings). I don't think it's rare, it certainly wasn't about 2 years ago when I picked it up.

Ok....thanks guys! It was a choice between that or Puyo Puyo 4 and I really wasn't sure. The guy said he REALLY liked Lost Golem....I don't know now though. I'm not much for Lemmings, but it looked interesting. Think I'd be better off with a Puyo 4? I love hte Puyo series....

Given the choice between the two there's no question that I'd go for Puyo Puyo 4, personally. I hope I'm not turning you off to a game that you might like, but the play really is quite a lot like Lemmings. The idea is that you have to get the king around a 3D room by putting obstacles in his path, luring him in various directions, channeling him toward the exit. I just didn't dig it. Puyo Puyo, however, I could play forever.

Guess I too am a member of the "bought it because it was cheap/VGD raving" club. Yeah, not bad, nothing too great either. Actually I played it a bit when I first got it, got my money's worth, but I haven't touched it at all since then.
The first meeting of the Insane-People-at-VGD-Made-Me-Buy-Lost-Golem-But-I-Only-Played-It-Once club will be at 9 PM Wednesday. Please try to attend so that we can help you deal with the issues resulting from your status as a Lost Golem owner.

There's a used copy of it going on Yahoo Auctions (Japan) for 900 yen, and no bids:

I would classify it as uncommon. I remember the reviews were not all that great for it. That company Caremelpot isn't Sega's best third-party company. It initially sold for 3800 yen, compared to the 5800-6800yen for most games. That's why it is probably so cheap even as an import. Anyway, I hope it works out for you in the end.
