There should be a top twenty Dreamcast list somewhere on this site... that should really come in handy the next time you're out shopping for software.
My personal recommendations include Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Grandia 2, Sonic Adventure, and Mars Matrix. There are a lot of others worth buying but those games are a good first step in the right direction.

Congrats on your purchase, you won't be displeased with the DC!

the only problem I have with the DC is that they seem to be somewhat prone to technical problems. I TRIED to buy a used one, but after getting 3 different malfunctioning units from 3 different sources, I gave up (at least for the time being).

Maybe you just need a different source!
I've had 6 of them. My original which is still in frequent use, one that I used to modify (before the Utopia boot disc appeared on the scene), one that was given away during our DP Survivor game last year (Kaine23 ownst that one now), one that was stolen from my house, one that was given away last weekend in a house party contest, and one that's here as backup. Never had a problem with any of these.

same here man ! the dc is a fairly stabe unit .I have bought over 15 dc's in lots on ebay claiming to be broken of course I was able to fix all but 2 just from tightning the screws on the bottom.
I would like to suggest you get street fighter 3 and import ikaruga if you dont have the gc version

it is a damn loud system :) thats what i really really like about my gc, it's so fucking quite because it doesn't speed up and lslow down and has these cute little discs
btw i've got a 2nd dreamcast which doesn't work, it has power, runs, but can't read any discs, so whats up with it? defect laser? or could it be something else?

Congratulations on your purchase of the best god damn console to exist! You will not be disappointed.
As far as technical problems goes, my DC has only had that problem with th epower supply pins (ie: console continually resets etc.) but since cleaning the contacts and then proceeding to steralise every component of the console (previous owner was a smoker and my guess is that they used the console as an ashtray - damn their evil heart!!!!) and my DC's run flawlessly since. And while they are a bit noisy, after I cleaned mine out, it's been a LITTLE quieter.
DC is now the console that I focus on collecting games for (well, the games I like anyway - which there's a LOT of).
Sega Rally 2, Soul Calibur and Sega GT are definitely a few of the long list of great titles.

Might I suggest Sega Marine Fishing.
Very underrated game.
Even if you are not into fishing games, which I am not btw, this game transcends the genre.
The aquarium mode is unbelievable.
Deep single player mode, with lots of minigames and stuff to unlock.
Great fun!

Congrats!!! I won my DC off Ebay about 6 months ago!! I love it, and am collecting all kinds of games and stuff for it!!! Soul Calibur rules!!! Great graphics, fun fighting game!! I also really enjoy NFL 2k2 and NHL 2k2. Unreal tournament is cool too! Heck you can find the games for dirt cheap nowadays, so browse, and enjoy!!!
