Hi everyone. Thought you guys could maybe help with this.

I own a Sega Genesis, model #1601, which works fine. I have been using an old RF adapter, but the the cord is really old and the picture is all scrambled and fades in and out. Not to mention the picture quality with RF is abysmal in general.

Eventually, I had enough and purchased this (http://www.estarland.com/SegaGenesis.cat..product.14497.html) A/V cable from estarland.com. Well, it arrived and I get no picture and sound whatsoever. The console just emits this low humming noise. I presume that my A/V jack on my Genesis is no longer functional, but I have no idea. Anyone have any ideas?

How many RCA plugs does that cable has?.....(yellow/white) or (yellow/white/red)....Try switching the plug connectors.

I've seen 3rd-party cables advertised as compatible in the past but the actual output signals are switched....

That did the trick! It was a two-plug cable (yellow and white), and the colors were reversed. And here I was about to buy a new Genesis. Thanks again.
