While nothing concrete has been uncovered yet, more and more tidbits are pointing to a possible Wii-incarnation of GTA: http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/gta-on-wii-taketwo-wont-deny-it/

It would be interesting to see(if this rumor comes true) if this would be a port of GTA 4 or an entire new entry such as the Ds exclusive Chinatown Wars. I was actually alittle dissappointed at the E3 announcement of Chinatown Wars, mainly because it wasn't for the Wii. But perhaps this is why.

I would love something with a world the size of San Andreas. I loved that game and unfortunately about 70 % through my xbox died so I never finished the game. I will get back to GTA IV but there was something about that game that didn't suck me in like the previous 3 games. I played the hell out of 3, vice, and San Andreas so hopefully its not a direct port but maybe another period themed game. I don't think they've done anything in the 70s yet, I'd also like to see a Chicago-like locale and then maybe a trip to South America.

I can see the Wii game being a sort-of 'San Andreas Stories' type thing... which I wouldn't mind one bit. :)

Especially if it's set in the 70s. Ford Torino, anyone? :D

I just hope if they do San Andreas Stories that you aren't required to do the motions for working out, swimming, punching, etc. I'm fine with aiming guns and steering the vehicles, that would be fun.

I like the Wii, and I like GTA, but honestly, I can't imagine GTA on the Wii (or even Chinatown Wars on the DS for that matter) selling as well as Take Two and Nintendo would hope.

It's probably pretty safe to assume that at this point in the game, most, if not all the people interested in the GTA franchise already have a 360 or PS3 thus allowing them access to a superior incarnation of the games (better graphics, sound, more to do, bigger worlds, extra content via download etc).

Also, I can't imagine the controlls would be all that well suited to the style of game GTA is since they'd probably require you to free aim everything using the remote, which I on't think would as quick/accurate in t he fast paced fire fights known to the franchise as lock on aiming.

But I'm a GTA nut so I'll keep and open mind, it could end up being good, but I just have the feeling that even if it is good it'll still be a case of no reason to buy if I already have a 360.

Godfather on Wii really nailed the controls, it was a pretty fun game, and I enjoyed the roaring 20s setting. The city looked a little barren due to its ps2 roots, but the gameplay was excellent. I didn't give it a second look on ps2/360/ps3, but the Wii version's controls really added to the game, and even now I think it's probably the best job any 3rd party has done with Wii controls. Better even than most 1st party games.

I do agree with slip81 in that most GTA fans probably already bought it, so it's going to be a tough sell if it's a port or spinoff of GTA4. A new GTA might get some hype.

It was set in the 40's. How many people in the 20's do you know that wore fedora's? :D

What about doing the motions for a bit of 'Hot Coffee'?

Seriously though, I really hope this turns out better than the Wii port of Dead Rising. Otherwise it'll be more like running around a sparsely populated village.

First thing that came to my mind. I personally think the Wii would be great for the "Do the hooker, then beat her up and take the money back" part of the game. Truthfully though, GTA does nothing for me, so if it exists...I'll just look at it as more shovelware (and honestly, I give the shovelware more of a look than I would this).

I think a Wii version of GTA would sell really good, some of the people who made the PS2 versions so popular now have Wii's as their only "next gen" systems, so it would be a natural progression. But I think GTA Chinatown Wars on DS will most likely be a huge disappointment in sales, and that might discourage Rockstar from making a Wii version of GTA.

And for those disappointed with GTA IV's more serious tone, I recommend Saint's Row 2, its like the lost sequel to GTA San Andreas, only more over the top.

Even though Saints Row 2 is more fun to some, are all of these people that didn't like the "seriousness" of GTA IV still willing to admit that GTA IV is a much more well polished, better developed game than either Saints Row?

I'm sure Rockstar could make a GTA Wii game fun, especially with how to control your character during mini-games, etc with the Wiimote.
