The Dreamcast turned nine years old today, and I thought it'd be a cool idea to celebrate with a survey.

The questions:
How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
When did you get your DC?
What made you decide to get a DC?
What was the first DC game you played?
What was the first DC game you owned?
How many controllers do you have?
What are your favorite DC games?
What's the worst DC game you've played?
What are your favorite multiplayer games?
What's your favorite DC find?
What's your favorite game that you got for free?
How often do you play your DC?
Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
____________________________________________

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
18 (http://www.freewebs.com/jkwh/dclist.html). The most recent addition is Blue Stinger.

When did you get your first DC?
I bought a white DC in September 2007 for $20, which is the first one I've ever had.

What made you decide to get a DC?
While I had some interest in the DC, I never thought too much about adding one to the collection until 2007. A few months before I got my DC, a friend of mine included Crazy Taxi 2 as a bonus in a trade we had made. Then, after getting a new copy of Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX for a quarter at an FYE in August, I knew it was time.

What was the first DC game you played?
Crazy Taxi, at a friend's house during the system's heyday. A few months later, he offered to sell me his system and the game for $40, but I didn't have the money at the time.

What was the first DC game you owned?
Crazy Taxi 2.

How many controllers do you have?
Three (all first party - two white, and one blue). I'll eventually get a fourth.

What are your favorite DC games?
Crazy Taxi 1 and 2, 4x4 Evolution, Bangai-O, Ikaruga, Hydro Thunder, Soul Calibur, 18 Wheeler, and Chu Chu Rocket.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
Sno Cross Championship Racing. I liked the track editor, but poor controls ruined the rest of the game.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
I haven't played that much multiplayer yet, but so far, I like Soul Calibur and Gauntlet Legends.

What's your favorite DC find?
Getting StarLancer for a quarter was cool, even if it's missing the back insert.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Crazy Taxi 2.

How often do you play your DC?
Unfortunately, it isn't hooked up at the moment. It's been a few months.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Staying up late and playing Crazy Taxi 2 after I got my DC.

What was the first DC game you played?
[/ISonic Adventure[I]
What was the first DC game you owned?
Bought Sonic Adventure and Soul Caliber on launch day.

How many controllers do you have?

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
A whopping 5 games.

When did you get your DC?
Only about 3 years ago.

What made you decide to get a DC?
Needed it for my SEGA line.

What was the first DC game you played?
Sonic Adventure

What was the first DC game you owned?
Sonic Shuffle and NFL 2K1 came with it.

How many controllers do you have?
One official, one madcatz.

What are your favorite DC games?
Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi - I haven't played much.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
Never played it, but NFL 2K1 for a couple of reasons: 1. I hate sports games. 2. I see infinitely more copies of this game at used game stores than SMB/Duckhunt - nobody wants it.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Dunno.

What's your favorite DC find?
The DC itself - friend's neighbor had just moved in and found some extra junk still at the house, sold my friend the DC in a nice carrying bag for a penny and then the friend gave it to me.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Sonic Adventure

How often do you play your DC?
Almost never.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Might be a little inappropriate, but the first time I ever got high I played the Sonic Adventure demo on the Generator Vol. 2 disc and when I got to the part where the whale chases Sonic, my jaw just dropped and I stared at the screen like a young boy seeing a nude woman for the first time.

Power Stone.

What was the first DC game you owned?

Power Stone 2

What's your favorite DC find?
Mint condition boxed official Arcade Stick with minty Street Fighter Alpha 3 from Gamestation for £20.

Playing through Skies of Arcadia when I was still living at my Parents' and didn't have a care in the world....

Great idea, here's my answers-- I love this system!!!

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
Currently my collection is at 25

When did you get your DC?
I believe it was around 2001 or 2002, when the Dreamcast was essentially dead. Various places were clearing out brand-new systems at around $50! I knew I couldn't miss this opportunity so--not having enough money at the time--asked my parents to get me one for Christmas. And they delivered :)

What made you decide to get a DC?
The price + the graphics. There was no better value at the time. Also, I really liked the strong Japanese influence on the system (more on that later).

What was the first DC game you played?
I think the first game I actually played might have been Crazy Taxi or Ready 2 Rumble at a friends house.

What was the first DC game you owned?
I think I bought two--Sonic Adventure and Jet Grind Radio

How many controllers do you have?
Four--all official (white, skeleton blue, and two recently acquired skeleton greys)

What are your favorite DC games?
Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio, and Crazy Taxi 2. Bangai-O gets an honorable mention for sure though.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
Haha--well just recently I got that Dave Mirra BMX game mentioned awhile back, and I thought the physics and controls were terrible. I actually like those types of games--having played plenty of Tony Hawk 2 on the Playstation--but this was really bad. Maybe I just don't remember how poor those games controlled, but I liked Matt Hoffman's version better.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Haven't played much multiplayer on the DC--not enough friends interested in it, and missed out on the whole PSO craze--but I've had some crazy 3-4 person Chu Chu Rocket battles.

What's your favorite DC find?
Hm, that's tough. In many ways I feel all my purchases for the DC have been "finds", even the system itself. Especially at the "beginning" (well, for me anyways), when you could walk into Gamestop (or EB or Babbages for that matter) and pick up a $50 brand new system, or a MINT copy of Jet Grind Radio, Bangai-O, or Fatal Fury Mark of Wolves for $15 (which I certainly did). It was the ultimate bargain system.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Never got one for free! I've bought a few lots that the value of one game in them could pay off the rest (finding a disc-only Project Justice in one comes to mind), but I've never just got one without paying something.

How often do you play your DC?
Well, this summer, probably at the very least once a week, and more likely averaging about 3-4 times a week.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Definitely. One day I walked into the mall Gamestop (or it's previous incarnation)--I guess this would make me around 13 at the time, and set-up near the front of the store was a Dreamcast, with one of the clerks playing Sonic Adventure. Now mind you, this was well BEFORE the US launch, I want to say a good 4-5 months before--so you can imagine how mindblowing this was. I asked the clerk what it was--he said it was a Dreamcast, imported from Japan by another clerk, who decided to bring it in the store (yes, Gamestop was a different place back then). I was completely floored. SO FAST, SO BEAUTIFUL. I knew there was nothing like this out at the time--it completely obliterated the jaggy polygons of the Playstation--and was the most smooth, fluid thing I ever saw. It was like watching a movie. After a few mintues of me standing there oogling at the setup, the clerk asked if I wanted to give it a try. And I said NO. I'm not quite sure why I said that, I just knew, that I wanted to keep watching--everything was so perfect and amazing, I was still soaking it in--I didn't want to play it, no...I COULDN'T play it..not right now. So I just watched...watched the beautiful images of Sonic going around and around in the Wind level...watched the clerk use the strange controller which looked like a part of a ufo, navigating menus in equally cryptic Japanese...watched the smooth white console with it's little red light...I couldn't play it...it was very much beyond me. I walked out of that store on a high, I told my mom what I had just saw, but of course, she didn't understand--then again, I didn't quite either at the time, I just knew I had just experienced something amazing.
Of course, I finally got to play it... but that memory is still very vivid in my mind, as the moment I exposed to something completely brand new.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast? - 30 original titles

When did you get your DC? - 2003. Traded a Colecovision to another DP'er for it.

What made you decide to get a DC? - Curiosity about what at the time was considered a "modern" system. Would I be able to get into modern games? The answer was mostly yes.

What was the first DC game you played? - Power Stone 2 at a Gamestop kiosk. Didn't like it at the time because I was still on too much of an old school mindset.

What was the first DC game you owned? - Sega GT Rally and Shenmue, which were included in the trade.

How many controllers do you have? - Six (count `em) stock controllers: Two white ones, one each of red, green, blue and black, and all have extension cables and color-coordinated VMU's. Also two light pistols, keyboard, mouse and a Mad Catz steering wheel with pedals. DC is one system for which I really went all out in respect to peripherals.

What are your favorite DC games? - Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Soul Calibur, Shenmue, Spirit of Speed 1937.

What's the worst DC game you've played? - KISS Psycho Circus. That frame rate is inexcusable :shameful:

What are your favorite multiplayer games? - Soul Calibur and Gauntlet Legends.

What's your favorite DC find? - Not one, but two, sealed copies of the Sonic Adventure 10th Anniversary CD package at a thrift for $3 apiece. Gave one away, though, but it was a good score at the time.

What's your favorite game that you got for free? - Other than Shenmue, I'll say Ikaruga. It's really hard to play, but the graphics are absolutely stunning.

How often do you play your DC? - Not as often as I used to, but it's still hooked up and ready go. More often these days I use it for NES/SNES emulation.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC? - I was having a really difficult time figuring out how to make working console emulation discs, as opposed to coasters. A very knowledgeable forum member was kind enough to PM me about it and explain what to do in clear, sensible terms. This memory is less about the "DC" than "DP", but I'm still grateful for the assistance.

Not too often. But I got a VGA box to hook mine up to my HDTV last month and have been playing a lot of Virtual On lately.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?

Bringing it home at showing my then girlfriend now wife Soul Calibur. "Cool intro but how does the gameplay look?", she asked. I think we played that game all weekend only taking breaks for food and snoo-snoo. :)

Updated for the 10th anniversary, 2009! New answers are bold.
How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
139 at current count

When did you get your DC?
First Christmas right after it debuted

What made you decide to get a DC?
I hadn't purchased a new console since the Genesis, and wanted one because I loved computer gaming at the time, but it was expensive to keep up during those early PC online games.

What was the first DC game you played?
Not sure - very vague, but probably Blue Stinger (I was really into Hexen, Doom, etc.)

What was the first DC game you owned?
Blue Stinger, Air Force Delta, Crazy Taxi, and Vigilante 8 were all very early for me.

How many controllers do you have?
Probably 10 or so due to picking up collections, but only 2 back in the day.

What are your favorite DC games?
Ms. Pac Man Maze Madness is unbelievably addicting, Blue Stinger was fun, Air Force Delta, and probably the most played game ever on my DC is Caesars Palace 2000. My wife and I used to play it all the time to get ready for our yearly trips to the Bellagio!

What's the worst DC game you've played?
Kiss Psycho Circus only because I'm such a HUGE Kiss fan and it was a big disappointment in play quality.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Star Wars Demolition, Gauntlet Legends, Vigilante 8, and Caesars Palace

What's your favorite DC find?
Japanese "Hello Kitty" pink DC system in box. Complete except for the Pink VMU (anyone have one?)

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Never got a free game.

How often do you play your DC?
I'm in a summer-long dry spell. Need to pull it out and play it tonight!

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Some friends came over for dinner and we spent all night playing Sega Rally with the Madcatz wheel and pedals. We all took turns for hours and hours. Our kids had just been born and we put them down to sleep and got to enjoy some time just being "kidless" again and it was awesome!

Not so often any more. It's not with me at college, just my Wii and PS3.

Yeah, when I beat Shenmue 2 and my mouth was hanging open for the last 45 minutes and then I cried because I knew deep down that a third will never be made.

Today lots of DC topics are flying around various boards, but this one is the best I've seen. Good way to incorporate a survey, DS

-How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
About 40

-When did you get your DC?
Around 2002 or 2003

-What made you decide to get a DC?
Actually it was sort of luck. I won the system for free on a Neo-Geo.com contest hosted by one poster. It involved an egg hunt online looking for clues to spell out the mystery word. I remember he even had me go to the Jurassic Park website to find one of the letters, lol. I even had a random NG member help me out on instant messaging, as he already had a DC and for whatever reasons thought it would be a hoot if the "resident Saturn expert" (as I was known back then) also had a Dreamcast. The mystery word ended up being "Gaiety" which basically means to be in "high spirits" or happy

-What was the first DC game you played?
God, what was it? I'm going to unofficially say.... Plasma Sword or Carrier

-What was the first DC game you owned?
The system came free bundled with EVO, Grandia II and Shenmue

-How many controllers do you have?
Just 1. Been meaning to buy another one but never ever got around to it

-What are your favorite DC games?
I haven't played a whole lot. I guess I don't really have any clear-cut favorites. I did enjoy Resident Evil 2 (before my save files crapped out on me). Also, I'm actually one of those folks who enjoyed Blue Stinger

-What's the worst DC game you've played?
JMO but probably Maken X. I liked it initially, but found it wasn't my cup of tea on repeated sessions

-What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Not that I have played it multi, but I'm sure PowerStone series if I did

-What's your favorite DC find?
Don't have a crazy good story I could tell you here unlike SNES/Saturn as I was always mostly a casual DC owner. Probably winning the system for free itself if you qualify that as a find.

-What's your favorite game that you got for free?
I'll say the system itself ;)

-How often do you play your DC?
God, it's been a while. Not since RE2, which was probably late 2005 (or 06?) maybe...

-Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Winning the system for free for sure, and also, during '04 I had my mini DC craze run there. I slept over at my then-GF's apartment probably 4 to 5 days out of the week (her APT was also a short block or two from University campus) and I left some DC games there which I ended up playing on a few occasions. She was a pseudo-gamer so she played with me and when she didn't, looked on with some interest.

Sega Saturn Magazine's final page, fitting and beautiful

PS- I was a big fan of PLANETDREAMCAST.com in 2004. It's nice to see the site is still around. Easily the best DC website I've seen.

Happy Birthday Dreamcast!
-How many games do you own?
16. 15 US and a Japanese copy of Zombie Revenge
-When did you get your DC?
January 07
-What made you decide to get a Dreamcast?
I'd been looking at one for a while, and they were dirt cheap. My local used shop had them for $25 each, while still selling SNES's for $50. Plus, back then I only had 3 other systems.
-What was the first DC game you played?
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
-What was the first DC game you owned?
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
-How many Controllers do you own?
5. One came with my dreamcast, and the used shop I bought it from sold them for $2 each, so I picked up 3 more for backups and MP. Then, a few months ago, I bought a boxed dreamcast for $20 on craigslist with one included.
-What are your favorite dreamcast games?
Grandia 2, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Bangai-O, Virtua Tennis.
-What's the worst DC game you've played?
Bomberman Online. Just didn't like it.
-What are your favorite MP games?
Virtua Tennis, Virtua Cop 2 (courtesy of Sega Smash Pack Vol. 1) and Sega Swirl.
-What's your favorite DC find?
I went to a newly opened pawnshop and found a mint, complete copy of Bangai-O. The guy used eBay to set his prices (Sword of the Berzerk for $40?!) but he must of missed that one because he looked at it for a second and said $10. Not only that, but I had a copy of Eragon for the 360 that I was going to sell to him in my car and we just ended up trading game for game. Pretty sweet.
-What's your favorite game you got for free?
I didn't really get any game for free unless you count trading Bangai-O for Eragon.
-How often do you play your DC?
Not as often as I'd like. With 9 systems it's hard to set off enough time for each one.
-Favorite Memory centered around the DC?
A few weeks after I got mine my friend came over and we played Sega Swirl, Virtua Cop, and Virtua Tennis until pretty late into the night. Another memory is when I took my DC on vacation with me and spent almost 4 straight hours playing one of Crazy Taxi's Minigames, where you had to take a guy to the other side of the map w/o falling in the ocean. I forget my best score, but it was better then the 10th ranked guy on Twingalaxies leaderboards.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
42

When did you get your DC?
January 2003. I made the mistake of getting a GameCube in May 2002 (Australian launch) and as such, I had poured all my money into instead of getting a Dreamcast for Christmas 2001. If I'd known I would be getting ten times more enjoyment out of a DC than my GCN, I never would've bought that stupid black box.

What made you decide to get a DC?
The games. The console just seemed so geared towards my taste in gaming - plus I REALLY wanted to play Sega Rally 2.

What was the first DC game you played?
Sega Rally 2

What was the first DC game you owned?
Sega Rally 2!

How many controllers do you have?
Um, well I have one for each DC I own, so 2 there. I have another standard white one and a transparent green one (US). Do we count ALL types of controllers? Because if so, I also have an Arcade stick, SEGA light gun (not the crappy Mad Catz one America got) and fishing rod. That would be 7.

What are your favorite DC games?
Sega Rally 2 (despite all it's flaws)
Soul Calibur
Shenmue
The House of the Dead 2 (although I can't play it on my LCD TV :()
Crazy Taxi
The Typing of the Dead
Tokyo Bus Guide
Zero Gunner 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3

What's the worst DC game you've played?
Nothing particularly horrendous comes to mind - I guess Incoming?

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
ChuChu Rocket!

What's your favorite DC find?
Finding almost mind copies of Ikaruga and Zero Gunner 2 for $5 each.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
I have only received two games for free on the DC, Tech Romancer and Phantasy Star Online. Out of those, I would say I prefer TR.

How often do you play your DC?
In 2003 and 2004 I would've said EVERY DAY. It was easily my most played console. Unfortunately, I think I truly have exhausted its library of games that I am willing to buy and play (at least from a PAL perspective). I still crank it out maybe once a month or so.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Going to a 1999 computer expo here in Perth, the most isolated capital city in the world and playing a Dreamcast for the first time ever. Played Sega Rally 2 (the console was still several months away from release). I also remember some of the DC's they had were buggy and kept resetting to the DC logo. It didn't deter me, I still wanted one more than anything. It is my second greatest regret not buying one back in the day (the greatest being trading my original SNES).

1. 10, pared down from about 30-35. I kept the ones that I liked/played
2. A few yrs back, my mother-in--law got it at a summer garage sale w/ 30 games for $30!
3. Never had it before & the price was right!
4. Dont recall, may have been Jet Grind Radio (& I broke a off control thumbstick over it!)
5. I owned 30 all at once!
6. 4, 3 working.
7. Sega Marine Fishing, Q*Bert, Reel Fishing Wild, Tee Off, Armada, HotDead 2
8. Well, I got some games that I knew I wouldnt like & sold off immediately w/out playing them!
9. Always only played it alone
10. I bought the fishing controller for $15- worth every cent! Also Sega SmashPack for $4.
11. Never got one free, but the whole garage sale deal was pretty sweet.
12. I've had it packed away for awhile now, to see how long I can go w/out it. But I found Sega Smash Pack & think about trying that out.
13. When I had my avid-fisherman dad try Sega Marine Fishing, he set the hook & yanked the fishing controller plug right out of the Dreamcast! :D

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
82.

When did you get your DC?
August or September 2001.

What made you decide to get a DC?
Funny story behind this (long rant ahead). I was one of the system's naysayers when it first came out. I'd had a Saturn as my main system, and Bernie Stolar's murdering of the system, with the resulting year-plus gap of NO Sega games, pretty much forced me to go with something else. In the summer/fall of '98, I traded in my Saturn for a Playstation. When the Dreamcast came out, I'd become a loyal Playstation gamer. It's not that I bought into the PS2 hype or anything, I was just really happy with my PSX and it was still kind of new to me. I also thought it was a little too early for a new generation of systems, and I was one of the few people who wasn't totally blown away by the quality of the system's graphics. Plus, my thought was that they'd just abandon the system like they'd done before. But, I had a friend who got a Dreamcast at launch, so I got to experience the system anyway. As time went on, more and more of my friends bought DC's. I had fun with it whenever I played at a friend's house, and there seemed to be a good stream of games coming out, but I was still pretty set against it in my mind. Then in late 2000, an avalanche of games came out. Shenmue and Jet Grind Radio in particular made me re-evaluate my thoughts on the system. And then I read a new article on the internet that started off with "There just isn't any stopping the Sega success machine" talking about the system's sales. Between that news, all the games that were coming out, and seeing all the games that were in the pipeline, I changed my mind and began to think Sega was actually devoted to this system. Then the PS2 launched. Although I hadn't been as impressed by DC as everyone else, PS2's games looked worse, and I began to more appreciate DC's graphics by comparison. The selection of games at launch was god-awful compared to Dreamcast's launch lineup as well, and Sony didn't bundle a modem with their system or have any online plan at all. There also didn't even seem to be that many games in its near future. PS2 seemed incredibly weak; it was a DVD-playing one-trick pony. That was when I decided to choose Dreamcast. But, I wasn't really in a position to get one just yet. Around this time, a friend of mine offered to sell me his Nomad. I'd always wanted one, so I did, but it came with a bunch of games and stuff, so it cost me (incidentally, that purchase of a Nomad was my first foray into nostalgia/retro/classic gaming). So, I started saving for a DC with Christmas money, and then I was saving some money through January. Phantasy Star Online came out around this time, and it was huge. Everyone was talking about it. PS2 had... nothing. And then, literally the day I was going to go down to Funcoland to buy a Dreamcast, I read on the internet that Sega was pulling out of the hardware business. This was the biggest "WTF" to me, since they were finally enjoying success. Reading this news gave me pause, and I didn't buy a Dreamcast that day. I was really enjoying the nostalgia trip with my Nomad though, so I decided to buy an SNES, and then a Saturn. Then I decided that even though they were dumping it, the Dreamcast had enough games already to be worthwhile as it was. I acquired one late that summer. I'm glad I got one when I did, because I was able to take advantage of lots of good deals on Dreamcast games in late 2001 and early 2002. When most systems die out, their section in the stores gradually gets smaller over time, but with Dreamcast, they had huge amounts of games to clearance.

What was the first DC game you played?
Virtua Fighter 3tb, Japanese version. A local used game store around here imported a launch DC unit and kept it hooked up for customers (and employees) to play.

What was the first DC game you owned?
Not 100% sure, but my earliest acquisitions include Maken X, Grandia II, Jet Grind Radio, Chu Chu Rocket, Shenmue, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Space Channel 5, Soul Reaver, and Phantasy Star Online.

How many controllers do you have?
I have 4 regular controllers, 1 Sega Sports controller, 1 third-party translucent pink 6-button controller, 1 Twin Stick, 2 Pop'n Music controllers, 2 sets of first-party maracas, a keyboard, and a mouse.

What are your favorite DC games?
My personal top 11: Jet Grind Radio, Mr. Driller, Border Down, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure 2, Samba de Amigo, Headhunter, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Power Stone 2, Bangai-O, Crazy Taxi 2.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
I'm generally good at avoiding the crap, but two games stick out: Death Crimson OX and Who Wants to Beat Up a Millionaire.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Power Stone 2, Samba de Amigo, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Chu Chu Rocket are all a great time. And although it's not multiplayer, I've done a lot of "taking-turns playing" of both Crazy Taxi games at parties and stuff (not so much lately, but back then).

What's your favorite DC find?
At an EB in late 2001 I got a Sega Sports Edition Dreamcast for $20. It was in the original box and complete with the games, browser disc, etc. They're not in as high demand as they used to be, but for a while there (circa 2004-05 I wanna say), the Sega Sports DC's were going for a pretty penny. Now they're not as costly, but it's still rare to see them complete in box.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
I never got that many games for free, but Shenmue II was a Christmas present in 2001. Awesomeness.

How often do you play your DC?
It varies a lot. I'll go through periods where I play it every day, and then I'll leave it untouched for like three months.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Playing Ooga Booga online at a friend's house right when it came out. That game was a blast online. Maybe not the absolute most fun I've had with the DC, but it's my favorite memory because you had to have done it at the time.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
I believe it's 217, but most of my Dreamcast collection in storage right now and that number doesn't include imports. Also, I own several doubles or triples of certain games.
When did you get your DC?
I got my original DC in 2000 when I traded in my N64 collection including the Atomic Purple set, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Harvest Moon 64 (arrgh!) to get it, but it was worth it.
What made you decide to get a DC?
I saw that Midway had released NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC, and Showtime was just like NBA Jam, one of my favorite arcade games. I knew I had to have it.
What was the first DC game you played?
I want to say Sonic Adventure in EB Games. I remember running across the bridge with the killer whale chasing me.
What was the first DC game you owned?
NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC.
How many controllers do you have?
At least eight, although I'm not counting my two boxed Mad Catz steering wheels, two fishing controllers, keyboards, mice and a brand new unused Samba de Amigo set in that number.
What are your favorite DC games?
Crazy Taxi, Daytona USA, NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC, Unreal Tournament, the Capcom shoot 'em ups and fighting games
What's the worst DC game you've played?
Toy Commander (I never got used to the controls.)
What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Soul Calibur, Chu-Chu Rocket, Unreal Tournament
What's your favorite DC find?
I own a broken kiosk Dreamcast from the Kay-Bee Toys store I worked at back in the day. It's yellowed from left unprotected in a cardboard box, but I'll never get rid of it. Alternatively, my best yard sale find was a boxed complete Dreamcast for $20 along with about ten complete games for $1 each. This was great since I tossed out the box to my original Dreamcast.
What's your favorite game that you got for free?
I got a Cheats & Codes disc for a penny that I use to boot my imports. Does that count?
How often do you play your DC?
Not often enough. I can't wait to retrieve my collection from storage once I move.
Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Playing Crazy Taxi in my college dorm room in the days before real responsibility and paying bills.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
18 real games. A couple of back-ups.

When did you get your DC?
Late-summer 2005.

What made you decide to get a DC?
It had Ikaruga and the fact a setup for playing Ikaruga at home was cheaper than Radiant Silvergun at home it was an easy choice. Plus it was cheap enough for such a good back library of games.

What was the first DC game you played?
Hmm, I believe it was Street Fighter 3 Double Impact. I cannot be sure if it was SF31 or SF32 but it was one or the other. This was in... 2003 or 2004.

What was the first DC game you owned?
The Typing of the Dead. It's a good choice also since I managed to get a copy sealed. Incidently official keyboards were about $10 so it was a good call.

How many controllers do you have?
2 official. One made in Japan, the other China.

What are your favourite DC games?
I think Ikaruga is a good place to start. I like the variety of shooters on the system and the great selection of driving games. Sega Rally 2 is arguably one of my favourite racing games so that's a good candidate as well. Typing of the Dead gets a nod as does Bangai-O, Daytona USA, Last Blade 2, Resident Evil Code Veronica, and Under Defeat.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
I really didn't dig Armada although it could hardly be called bad. Test Drive LeMans I also didn't enjoy too much. It's a tough choice, I'll need to think about this some more.

What are your favourite multiplayer games?
The racing games are good choices and or fighting games although I wouldn't say I've spent much time in multi-player. Perhaps I'll say the Virtua Tennis games are good versus material.

What's your favourite DC find?
Good question. It could be Typing of the Dead for $10 new or perhaps snagging a used system with Bust-A-Move 4 for $10 also. Either are worthy.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Bust-A-Move 4 is as close to a free game I've ever gotten so that's it.

How often do you play your DC?
Usually once a month on average. It gets good use depending on my time and if I wish to improve in a specific game.

Do you have a favourite memory centered around the DC?
I'll get back to this one later but I do have a good one.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
12 USA
10 JPN

When did you get your DC?
When the Smash Pack bundle was released, it was just too damn cheap to pass up.

What made you decide to get a DC?
The price had been dropping off and I had the spare cash. Also Daytona USA was on the way for the system and it looked superb. There were also plenty of games I missed on the system to play in the few months during the wait.

What was the first DC game you played?
Flag To Flag CART on a demo kiosk at a game store, may have been a Toys R Us. Still one of my favorite arcade style driving games, especially with how steering control diminishes as speed increases.

What was the first DC game you owned?
Sega Smash Pack Volume 1, of course because it was bundled. I believe Virtua Tennis was the first standalone game I purchased.

How many controllers do you have?
1 Standard Controller
1 Standard Green Controller
1 Sega Sports Controller
1 Pop'n Music Controller (JPN)
Then of course a keyboard, mouse, and a couple fishing controllers

What are your favorite DC games?
Daytona USA (AKA Daytona USA 2001) is my favorite on the platform. Hundreds of hours were spent playing alone and on the SegaNet. Flag To Flag CART for the above mentioned reasons. Shenmue and Virtua Tennis.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
Honestly, Sega Rally Championship 2 - what a tremendous step backward from the previous title. Sure, it's passable but still.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
Daytona USA (damn I miss the late nights on SegaNet).

What's your favorite DC find?
All the cheap Dreamcast systems I used to find at flea markets for family and friends.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Propeller Arena, of course - this should be the same answer for all of us. :)

How often do you play your DC?
A couple times a month at present. A couple years ago it was on for about six or seven hours a day, nearly every day doing emulation testing.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
More so about the time when the DC was at its peak and then slowly fading away, I had my all time most satisfying job back then. It was just a really cool time in my life and in the lives of a lot of people I've known. It makes me think of that era more than about the console or games themselves.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?

38 actual games plus a bunch of burned ones. I buy them when I see them for cheap...

When did you get your DC?

August 2007. I thought about getting one when it came out in 1999, but got an N64 instead because I wanted that more and could get a lot more stuff for the same amount of money. I knew knew relatives who had one, but finally was able to get one myself several years ago. :)

What made you decide to get a DC?

Because it's a great system of course.

What was the first DC game you played?

Not sure... probably Sonic Adventure in a demo station though. Seemed good.

What was the first DC game you owned?

When I got the system (which came with a controller, VMU, and official Sega X4 card), I got copies of Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, NBA Showtime, and NHL 2K for $2 each. For a few dollars more I then got a copy of TimeStalkers at another store before going home with it all. (oh, I do like TimeStalkers. Good game!)

How many controllers do you have?

Four, two official ones, an Interact one, and a Mad Catz one with the six face buttons. I also have an official arcade stick.

What are your favorite DC games?

Skies of Arcadia is my favorite game on the system. Other great ones include Ikaruga, Sonic Adventure, San Francisco Rush 2049, Crazy Taxi, Under Defeat, Giga Wing 2, etc... maybe also 4-Wheel Thunder, Capcom vs SNK 2, The Last Blade 2, Daytona 2001, Soul Calibur, SPFIIX, Puyo Puyo Fever, Zombie Revenge, etc... I could keep going, there are plenty more games I like just as much as those there. I always have a lot of trouble narrowing down lists of good games. :)

[I]What's the worst DC game you've played?

Hmm, I don't know, I've avoided most of the bad ones... of what I own though, my least favorite game is Rippin' Riders. For some reason I just hate that game...

What are your favorite multiplayer games?

Shmups, Rush 2049, and fighting games pretty much, I think... oh, and Dynamite Cop and Zombie Revenge. :)

What's your favorite DC find?

Skies of Arcadia for free, pretty much.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?

My cousins' DC died back in 2002 (DRE'd to death), so when I got my system they said I could have whatever of their games I wanted. They only had about ten, but I got several... Evolution 2, Blue Stinger, Tony Hawk 2, the Web Browser 2.0 disc (with Sega Swirl on it), and my all-time favorite Dreamcast game, Skies of Arcadia. The last is my obvious pick. :)

How often do you play your DC?

Fairly often, but it varies... I have lots of systems. Every few weeks, probably, on average?

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?

Not sure...

When did you get your DC?
At some point in 2000, I think shortly after Marvel vs Capcom 2 came out in the US.

What made you decide to get a DC?
Mainly it was the fighting games. I had just gotten back into the genre in a big way, my friend Brian was selling me his Dreamcast Agetec stick, and I wanted the games. Sega's first party stuff was a good bonus though.

Either King of Fighters 1999 Dream Match or SF Alpha 3, at my friend Brian's on his Japanese console.

What's your favorite DC find?

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Haha, Super Street Fighter 2 X. Love that game, and played it plenty before HD Remix came out.

How often do you play your DC?
It comes and goes in spurts. It'll sit there for a few months, then I'll throw down in a fighter or a shooter and play that for a while. Before HD Remix though my friends and I would play it generally twice a month for a night.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Back when it was still active, my friends and I would get together every Friday night for about 2 years to play Dreamcast fighting games. Initially it was stuff like CvS1, Marvel, KOF, and then eventually Powerstone 2 sort of elbowed all of those out until it was all we played.

-How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
Just over 150. That number includes doubles of several games.

-When did you get your DC?
Midnight 9/9/99

-What made you decide to get a DC?
I felt like it was going to be amazing. It was (is).

-What was the first DC game you played?
Sonic Adventure. I had the chance to have an import system for a week a month or two prior to the US launch.

-What was the first DC game you owned?
Sonic Adventure, Hydro Thunder, Soul Calibur

-How many controllers do you have?
Just my original four. This reminds me, I need to stock up on some extras.

San Francisco Rush 2049, Virtua Tennis, PSO/v2, Worms Armageddon/World Party, Tetris 4D, Re volt,

-What's your favorite DC find?
$5 Bangai-O at Circuit City was nice as it was one of the few harder to find titles I wanted that I actually ended up finding as the DC died. I was also happy to pick up a BBA for $80 from a friend last weekend. While not an amazing deal, I had been wanting one and I got to use it to play PSO Online on the DC's birthday.

-What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Shenmue (Christmas gift)

Every few weeks I'll play it for a few days. This evening I got my DC online for some PSO action. It was my way of paying homage 10 years later.

Staying up a few hours every night until 1-2AM on school nights playing PSO.

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?
193. That's including imports (19 Japanese, 7 European) and aftermarket homebrew releases (7).

When did you get your DC?
I was considering it for a long time, and then Sega dropped the price to $100. At this point, everyone knew the Dreamcast's days were numbered, but the price was just too good to pass up, so I bought one right away.

What made you decide to get a DC?
The library of games was great, and the $100 price point made it an excellent deal.

What was the first DC game you played?
Sonic Adventure

What was the first DC game you owned?
I bought Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi the same day I bought the system.

How many controllers do you have?
Three regular controllers I think. I also have 2 arcade sticks, 2 keyboards (I was surprised to find there were two different models of keyboard released), a mouse, the MadCatz light gun and a Panther DC, though they don't see much use.

What are your favorite DC games?
Soul Calibur, Jet Grind Radio, Wild Metal, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Capcom vs. SNK 1 and 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Grandia II, Record of Lodoss War, San Francisco Rush 2049, Red Dog, Zero Gunner 2, Rez, Vampire Chronicle, Pro Pinball Trilogy.

What's the worst DC game you've played?
I was always really disappointed with Mortal Kombat Gold. Not only was the game pretty weak, but it didn't even support the VMU. I know it was a launch title, but that's absolutely ridiculous.

What are your favorite multiplayer games?
I never played much multiplayer, but I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Virtua Tennis and Bomberman Online.

What's your favorite DC find?
I wouldn't really say I've had any great finds. Back in the days, I passed on a bunch of games for relatively cheap that I very much regret (like SF3: 3rd Strike)... though I've since bought them anyways. I got Taxi 2 (European exclusive) for a nice price off eBay, though I don't remember what that price was and it doesn't have a manual.

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
I've never gotten a free DC game... at least not legitimately... so I'll say Half-Life.

How often do you play your DC?
Honestly, not very often any more... maybe once every 2 months or so. I often go weeks without playing ANY games though. I make it a point to buy all the aftermarket releases, for whatever that's worth.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
I remember being very impressed with even the earliest of Dreamcast games... Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive 2... once I had seen those, I'd pretty much come to the conclusion that games really couldn't get much better graphically... or that at the very least, graphics were no longer any barrier preventing programmers from making amazing games. Even these days, I'm impressed with what they were able to do, and while graphics have definitely gotten better, I'm still not convinced it's resulted in better games.

Crazy Taxi/Soul Calibur/Jet Set Radio/Virtual-On

Draconius?

Gauntlet Legends, Power Stone 2, GigaWing 2, Tennis 2k2, Chu Chu Rocket, Worms...
Anything 4p and fun!

What's your favorite DC find?
Under Defeat LE and Trigger Heart - both together at the same time. :D

What's your favorite game that you got for free?
Never been given a DC game that I can recall.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
The night the family stayed up all night playing 4p games. The sun was rising before we knew it.

When did you get your DC?

January 2000 - the local game store across the street from where i worked had a used DC, but instead of selling it at a discount, they swapped in a clear case, modded the system to play imports and sold it for the standard going price of 199. That was what i bought

Demos and friends that had imported the system. The DC got me back into video games. in 1999, i was a passive playstation owner with only a handful of games

How many games do you own for the Dreamcast?

355 - including a complete US set (minus the case for Sonic Adventure LE)

First off, Wow. Out of all of my systems, the one I would love to have a complete US catalog for is my Dreamcast. Second would be the Atari 2600. Nice job getting them all!

What made you decide to get a DC?

Demos and friends that had imported the system. The DC got me back into video games. in 1999, i was a passive playstation owner with only a handful of games

I was going to mention this as well! I had passed on all the overpriced early- to mid-90's systems and had jumped into the "new" world of PC modem gaming. I would stay up til 2 am playing Hexen and Doom with my friends over our phone lines. Then the Dreamcast commercials began to pop up and I knew I wanted one and it did NOT disappoint! I've been a console gamer since that day.

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?

My favorite DC memory was when my family and I were on vacation at Disney World in 2000. In the Epcot Center, Sega had set up a Dreamcast booth with Sonic Adventure demos running. I kept getting stuck at the first loop de loop in the demo because I didn't realize I had to hold "up" to make it through, but I had a blast anyway!

Do you have a favorite memory centered around the DC?
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - It was 2 vs 1, me being the one. My Ken vs their Cammy and (can't recall). I take a huge pummeling, and then fight my way back - all three of us have exactly two to three regular hits left. From left to right, from the left corner, it was Player 3, me, and then Cammy from a small distance. Me and the 3rd person were trading ticks, and when we got down to our respective final blow, player 2's Cammy leaps into her Super. I basically said "SCREW IT" and did a 2-in-1 low round house into Ken's Standing Uppercut Super to kill of P3 and take the loss from Cammy.

Instead, I low round house and kill P1, and for whatever reason, Ken AUTO-TURNED into his Super, and smacked and killed off Cammy in one move. All three of us drop controllers going "NO WAY!!" "NO F_CKING WAY!" and hopped about the room trying to understand what happened. Was bleeping brilliant!
