Hey everyone,

It's been awhile since I posted on here! I showed my girlfriend what I found this morning and she just rolled her eyes and said "that's good"... so I figured I would come on here and tell some people who would understand my happiness!

[EDIT - I'll have to reupload the image to imageshack. First time they've lost one of my images]

Check it out... an almost MINT condition World Of Nintendo 3D globe! It was sitting in someones recycling bin this morning. As I biked by and glanced at it, I immediately knew what it was. I slammed on my brakes, turned around, snatched it and biked all the way back home :)

I already have a World Of Nintendo display case and have always been looking for World of Nintendo stuff. I've mostly looked around eBay cause finding that stuff in the wild is almost impossible.. or so I thought.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my find with you all.

You know you could always ask at that house for any other unwanted Nintendo items.

That globe is awesome.

The best thing I've ever saved from the trash was the box and documents for Namco Museum for the GBA. I opened it up to find the documents and the little cart baggie inside, everything in good shape. I hardly ever dumpster dive, but I was walking by a recycling bin behind a GameCrazy/Hollywood Video on the way to a bus stop one day and there it was. Unfortunately, it was the only game box I saw, but it turned my cart only copy of Namco Museum into a complete one.

If I dig around in the trash in my neighborhood, I might come back with an arm full of dirty syringes like the doctor in that episode of Family Guy.

What is it with women and them not caring when you go through people's trash and find stuff?

You're like Indiana Jones without a little asian kid in a yankees cap as a sidekick. Women. Pfft

Ya I thought about this but you never know what might happen. If you ask for info on it and are willing to spend money for more items, the person might realize it's worth something and want it back (although, what's thrown out it legally not theirs anymore)

On another note, It seems imageshack has lost the picture! Damn... I always thought they were great image hosters.

Awesome find. I usually don't go digging through the trash... but I'd make an exception if I saw something that cool.

Oh, and try picasaweb.google.com for image hosting. I like it much better than imageshack.

Awesome find, I've gotten a few games/systems from the trash, but they're usually dirty as hell.

I don't know about where you live, but around here, it's generally illegal to take stuff out of a recycling bin, trash is legal though.

Maybe I'm jaded from living in Florida. But unless what you're putting out is a black garbage bag it's pretty much expected to be salvaged by someone.

One time when Greg and I were walking home from middle school, we found a Coleco Telstar on the sidewalk. Keep in mind, this was in 1992!

Actually, I just noticed that this isn't the same type of globe. The one in the above photo is flat (I've seen these before on eBay). This one I found is actually elliptical shaped and has a hole on the bottom. I assume you would place it on a stand that would slowly rotate. I don't think I've ever seen one of these.

Amazig what one can find in the trash even when they're not looking. Walking back to Penn Station in NYC one night I snagged a DQ8 poster out of a pile of garbage outside of a Gamestop.

Nice find, Mr. Faxanadu!

I always wondered what interesting items the sorters at the dump found. Although, they probably aren't gamers so they would probably only keep the games they found and not souvenir items like this. Luckily you prevented this particular item from meeting an unpleasant (for us collectors) fate.

Gotta wonder who the fxxx throws something like this away...let alone in mint condition...

It has to be divine intervention.

Haha, I've lived in Florida too and can attest to that. But up here in North Jersey, my neighborhood has some regulars that go around as well. But the best thing I've found was a Minidisc deck a couple years ago, which was timely, because i was just starting to fool around with Minidiscs (for fun). It ended up working! But after awhile it started to give the equivalent of a DRE. So, after finding out it was a common problem with the model, put it back out whence it came--on the street! Ah, the circle of life.

@Mr.Faxanadu:
Great find! I never found anything videogame related before, but that color scheme sure brings back some memories. Thanks for posting it. I'd also like to know who was hiding this all this time...and then decided to throw it away o_O?

Simple... one of the parents (mother?) had enough of all her son's junk and tossed some of it away. I can't see any guy who would have kept that for this long throwing it away.

On another note 5:):) POSTS FOR ME :)

That is awesome! I wish I had I sign like that (I have a very interesting story about almost getting a WoN light-up sign, but I really don't want to talk about it). I never find anything like that in people's trash around here.

Ah, EXTREMELY good point. I bet that's exactly what happened, poor guy :( Well it's got a good home now right? ;) Haha... man would I be pissed. I guess that's what happens though when you store something at the folks house "just until I get settled".

Congrats on the 500!
