I just got Mario Paint off ebay, everything's in used but good shape. Only problem is that the mouse isn't responding...
The game always starts without problem, but the mouse just doesn't respond to anything. The game + mouse is imported from Japan and the console is PAL, if this mean could anything?

What should I do??

first of all, you should open the bottom compartment and take out the ball then clean the rollers. ball mice tend to pickup all kinds of gunk in the rollers and will either not work right or at all till cleaned. if that doesnt work then i think it may be that the mouse has the same issues japanese and us controllers have on a PAL snes (region locked controllers, wtf nintendo :/) fortunately there is a relatively easy fix for that. you can find a tutorial on the mod somewhere online

The mouse is as clean as it gets. I don't even think it's been used ever.
I'll check out one of those tutorials and see what I can do! Thanks for your help.

I am surprised that systems back then did any kind of controller monitoring. Of course, for the SNES I always used the Nintendo brand controller that came with my system. All I knew is that if the controller came unplugged it didn't stop the game, like in later systems, so I figured there was no monitoring.

Good luck, tomii, and let us know if it works.

Alright I did this mod on this page (excellent site btw)
http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/eurosnescontrol.htm

And the mouse now works like a charm! :-D

Thanks for the quick help here, now you know what to do if you get in the same situation.

See ya!
