Hey gang,

Here's a bit of fun I started back on AA years ago. Post a photo with the name of a videogame, but NOT from the game itself. It's kind of interesting to see the photos folks post.

I'll get you started with a few:

I was driving through Tampa about a month ago and I passed by a gas station that was called "Super Mario Gas." I told my girlfriend to take a picture, but she didn't do it in time.
That's all I got.

I'm fairly sure they chose that name on purpose.

Awesome. Not sure if it's still there or not, but Crossgates Mall in Albany (well, Guilderland) NY had a barber shop called Super Mario's too. Haven't been to that mall in awhile, but if the shop's still there next time I go I'll get a pic of it.

Looks like that's actually licensed from the game, too. Awesome - I wasted tons of quarters in a RoadBlasters cabinet at the local Pizza Hut when I was a kid. I'll have to keep an eye out for these.

I had a good number of those diecasts. I loved being able to strap on armor and weapons... earned me some cool points back in school :D

As for the quarter blackhole known as RoadBlasters, yeah... it freed my pockets of many a quarter as well. Loved that game. That and STUN Runner. Those were the arcade staples of my childhood.

No kidding. Somehow I never knew about them... when I was really young I was very into collecting die cast cars, but I guess I'd gone past that phase by the time I first got into gaming and just never noticed them.

As for the actual game, after all the countless quarters spent in the machine at Pizza Hut I remember how excited I was to get the NES version of RoadBlasters (was probably 8-10 at the time). Sure, wasn't the same as the arcade, but I still played the hell out of it anyway. Years later I also grabbed the Genesis version, and still later the emulated arcade version was one of the main reasons I bought Midway Arcade Treasures (PS2).

But if I ever saw a RoadBlasters machine for sale, had a place to put it and money was no object, I'd definitely buy it. For sheer nostalgia, it's perhaps the #1 arcade cabinet I'd like to own. (Plus it's way more fun to play with the wheel and pedals rather than a controller.)
