I was kind of intrigued by the Megaman Battle Network concept when I first heard of it many years ago, but ever since then the reviews of the many sequels that have come out just say, "Boo, this is the same as the last one."

I never did get around to trying any of these games. Is any one of them particularly superior to the others?

I seem to recall Battle Network 2 holding value more than the others. The only one I ever played was 3 white version. I found it sort of mediocre, to be frank. These days it goes for somewhere around $7, which isn't a terrible price.

Who knows, you may dig it.

I remember playing the first one and it having the same exact plot to the cartoon that was on at the time, I stopped playing it after a couple of hours.

I have 1 of them (can't remember which one).

It is fun, but not something that gets you hooked

I played #3, the Blue version for a while, got it dirt cheap at an EB sale. Pretty much the most boring experience I've ever had playing a game. "Hey, here's a cool story, but every 6 steps you have to fight the same enemy you just beat!"

Making a 4 hour game 20 hours long with lame random battles is not my idea of a fun game.

Isn't that pretty much every RPG ever made?

Ba-da-boom, kissh!

*The above is a joke.

Hence the reason I do not like RPGs! :D

1 is good if you are a pure RPG guy, 2 is meh, 3 is the best if you like to customize however the gamecube version makes it into an action RPG with Megaman esque elements.

I've only played the first. Though the second is something I'd like to play if I ever get the time/interest (though I have a feeling it's just more of the same?). But, if you are interested, I recommend just starting with the first one. I'm shying away from Battle Network 3 with it's different versions because they come across as a little cheesy to be honest.

Give the first a try though, if you are interested in a card-based (they call them "chips" in the game, but basically function as cards would) alternative-universe Mega Man rpg--you won't be disappointed!
