This is one of my only hopes of interacting with people who play this game. Last week MY AQUARIUM launched on Nintendo's WiiWare service. It's basically a virtual aquarium where you can raise and breed aquarium fish as well as TRADE different species with other players. This is a totally niche casual game and as a result I don't know anyone who has purchased it besides myself. So I'm turning to the Digital Press forums to find other MY AQUARIUM players who will trade fish with me. The game uses Wii Console friend codes so I'm posting mine here: 0823-0517-1001-7192. Send me your code if you want to trade with me!

Hey Tony, you're right- it's fun. Most people would scoff at it but, having aquariums off & on for 30+ yrs I love this "game". I've had it on every night since it released. We have 6 tanks going right now, tank #5 is an experiment: 4 pirahnas vs. 4 Neon Tetras. So far it's even, no one's dead yet.

I want to discover the new fish myself & not into trading. But I WILL talk all you want to about My Aquarium!

There's actually quite a lot of talk on the Gamefaqs My Aquarium Board, I've seen some Friend Codes being exchanged over there.

Really happy to see a thread about this 'game'. Have been considering downloading it but just curious about a couple of things:

How life-like are these fishes and their AI? - and in conjunction with this question, i had fears that the graphics wouldn't keep up with the realism. any comments on the animation and graphics?

IMO the fish graphics are good. I've kept some of the featured species & they are quite realistic & satisfactory to say the least. The fish dont do much but swim around, when you feed them any of 3 foods they dart over to where the food is, but you dont see them eating. I guess you dont ever see a fish eat another fish, but I heard that happens & is the only way to lose fish.

You can also tap the glass w/ the WiiMote & the fish does a little writhing movement. & you can set certain dates (3 per tank) & the fish do a choreographed dance on that day!

I think the worst graphics you see are when the camera shows closeups of the fish swimming & you see the tank items (rocks/plants/etc) in the same shot, sometimes the items look 2D & a bit Playstation-y. But the fish always look OK.

One interesting thing I noticed last night, in the "fish catalog" (which offers short descriptions of each species), it says the clownfish (the 1st hidden fish you unlock) gets along well w/ sea anemonies which you can also put in a tank. In a tank w/ an anemone & 2 clownfish, I discovered they at times start swimming fast & fractically toward the anemone, then slow down & swim/brush thru its tentacles, almost as if it relaxes them.

Again, if you;ve ever kept or are interested in aquariums, or just want a $5 viirtual tank to turn on for ambience, get this. It's worth it.

Sounds good, I was planning on picking this up but wanted to hear what others had to say about it first

Yeah, thanks for the reply/input. Will definitely try this out.

Still playing Endless Ocean on a weekly basis at least on my Wii. Soooo relaxing lying in bed with that game across my wall projected by my HD projector :)

Endless Ocean fan? Me too. I cant find anyone who likes either of these. I'll be glad to discuss that one too!

Have you played EverBlue2 (PS2)?

Oh, & great avatar pic poloplyr- 1 of the best movies ever!

Good to hear some other video game players are enjoying this title! I thought I was all by my lonesome.

I too have had real aquariums on and off for several years. Mostly just tropical community tanks or ornamental goldfish tanks. But I've never had the guts to take on a salt water tank in real life. MY AQUARIUM is probably the closest I'll ever get to that! LOL!

Right now I have 4 tanks going. One tropical community tank, one salt water, one mixed, and another that has two Asian Arowanas which I'm hoping to breed (don't know if I'm going about it the right way). I'll have to check out gamefaqs. I'm not sure how the different foods affect the game and what affects breeding. Also, the Weather Channel is supposed to affect the tank but I'm not sure how.

I respect that you aren't trading with other players. You'll earn every fish through your own means ... and in that way you've "won" the game legit!

One comment though ... it is so strange to see salt water species swimming alongside fresh water ones! My intellect doesn't want to accept it .... but it's cool!

My Aquarium sounds cool.

Wouldn't it be great if Seaman was available as an unlockable? :)

@poloplayr: I got EverBlue 2 NTSC (USA) a few yrs back for around $12 on eBay. I would KILL to play the orig. Everblue (JAP & UK IIRC) but no US release. :( I've only seen screenshots on gamefaqs.

Interesting note: Arika which developed Wii Endless Ocean, also did Everblue 2! That's why I got EO,; thought it'd be a pseudo-sequel (would that be "sea-quel"?) to EB2.

I also own Endless Ocean, but haven't played it in several months. I got side tracked by Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and Dr. Mario Rx Online. :)

Funny thing about ENDLESS OCEAN. I also bought that game but haven't played it in a long while. I really like the idea of exploring the ocean and cataloging fish. But as soon as Mario Kart, Wii Fit, and Dr. Mario Rx came out, I all but forgot about Endless Ocean (haven't played the Williams Pinball). Maybe I'll start up again. My Aquarium is making me want to go back to it.

Has anyone explored the online feature of EO? maybe we should organise a big scuba expedition? :)

I've thought about EO online but dont really have lots of time to do ANYTHING anymore, much less play games. I play when I can & that's not very often.

But if we do start anything, my best times to play are Thurs nights after 8:30 CST & prob. anytime Friday during the day until around 3pm (CST).

A coral grouper ate my Ocellaris Clownfish! :(

I usu. feed all 6 tanks 8:30 AM & PM (12 hrs apart). I didnt feel like/had no time to turn on the Wii this morning so all fish missed their AM feeding.

When I turned it on tonight, I got the sad news. I had 5 Coral Groupers in the tank & they bred previously so I took out all but 1 & put in some bluegrass(?) guppies.

So far I'v earned: Ocellaris Clownfish, Piranha, Golden Gourami

& Neon Tetras bred twice, Mollys bred once, Coral Groupers bred once, clownfish bred once.

Oh, & someone on GameFAQS said they earned "kappa" as an object. Anyone know what that is?

EDIT: Wikipedia says Kappa is some kind of Japanese mythological sea monster.

I've earned all the same fish you have. But I've only gotten my freshwater Angelfish to breed. You've had much better luck! BTW, isn't Kapa a turtle type monster? Just like the one character in ANIMAL CROSSING that takes you to the secret island. I really hope it is truly is an unlockable ornament!

Is blue Discus a fish or an object? havent seen it yet.

A Clownfish got eaten by a grouper but as if in return a Clownfish pair I have in tank 2 bred TWICE now. My wife's Tetras bred in Tank 6, & I unlocked some 2-word Spanish-sounding fish (didnt look at it yet.)

I like this!

BLUE DISCUS is a freshwater fish. I think from the Amazon. I made a whole tank dedicated to them and guppies. Just wanted to see how they'd look together.ROFL

Ok, downloaded this myself 2 days ago and thoroughly enjoying it...only gripe...and not being an acquarium fanatic maybe someone else can answer this better but isn't the "bubbling sound" a bit too much? Sure I remember that relaxing sound but this is just too much, no?

Maybe i have been lazy and forgot to check some audio settings? :)

Still, loving it...love how the thing fills up my bedroom with a relaxing blue glow!

Too much? No, if anything it adds more realism. A real tank in your house would make noise. I think if you don't put the bubbles in, you don't hear them.

& I got the Blue Discus today! :)

Hey poloplyr- How's Everblue?

Hey poloplyr- How's Everblue?

I agree! I use the bubbles to add a touch of realism. Out of the 6 tanks I now support, five of them have the bubbles. Congrats on the Blue Discus!
