Is there any other way to charge the controller besides plugging it into the PS3?
If not do you know where I could get the cord that is 2 times longer?
Thanks.

There are charging docks out there:

You should be able to find a longer USB, just look for a Mini-B USB cable. They're a universal product.

I charge mine via the USB cord (that came with the PS3) connected to one of my computer's USB ports. It's the perfect solution since my computer is always "on", and my PS3 isn't.

I charge my controller with the data cable I have for my PSP, it's longer and a lot more practical. I left the cable that came with my PS3 at someones house and never cared to get it back, too damn short for my taste.

As stated above you can use your PC, I use my cable box sometimes as well as it has a USB port on it. You can buy longer USB cables specifically for the PS3 controller at most games stores as well

Gamestop has charging docks, also I hook mine up to the computer using psp cable.

I ordered two usb extension cables, so I have to still use the short ones that came with the controller. It'd go controller --> short cable --> extension --> ps3. I did this cause it was cheaper. With shipping it came to $4 for the both (maybe 5, either way, it's cheap). Go to: www.monoprice.com. They always have cheap cables.
