Hi guys, yesterday i went on my weekly huntind day though some yards and thifts and brought home two 64 games:
Star Wars Racer
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
But saw some others 64c games like DOOM 64, so, is it worthy?

If you like DOOM, you will also like this version. It's all new.
The only problem I see in it is the fact that it's TOO DARK! You need up increase your brightness in order to see anything on the screen.
Other than that, it's DOOM.

Here's the pros and cons in brief:
PROS
All new levels.
All the enemies were redesigned.
Resigned weapons and one new weapon (the laser).
CONS
Enemies look flat and have a limited number of animation frames. They really stand out against the 3D backgrounds and it feels like you're shooting at cardboard cut-outs.
There's no change to the original Doom "formula". For example, don't expect there to be any vertical aiming, different objectives, etc, there's not there. It's still shooting, finding the three colored keys and moving on to the next level. That the Doom formula is unchanged could also be considered a plus point, I guess it really depends on what you're expecting from the game.
To summarise, Doom 64 gives the original Doom formula a graphical overhaul and completely new levels but doesn't change the basics of the game. The enemies really do look flat but when you get used to it you can have a lot of fun with the game.

Here is some (worthless) info about Doom 64.
1.) It's one of two FPS's that make me nauseous (The other being Turok 64). I can't play it for more than an hour at a time.
2.) It's my oldest remaining save file in my library. It's still on my N64 controller pak save thingy from early 1997. I have some PS1 memory cards that are close, but that Doom 64 save file is my oldest.
3.) And more on topic: It's one of those games that I was in absolute awe of upon playing for the first time. I was a huge fan of the PC versions of Doom and Doom 2. Doom 64 graphically blew them out of the water. Very impressive for the time. It was released back during the Quake heyday though...so most of my FPS attention was diverted. Regardless, it was a solid game and still worth picking up IMO.

I thought that Doom 64 was pretty neat, but I didn't totally dig it until I played the remake of it on PC. Once I got my mittens on a mouse and keyboard for that game, it really made it a lot more enjoyable (for me).

There's a PC remake?

Like said earlier, you need to adjust the brightness on your TV set for this game. No one can say it was meant to be this dark to make it more challenging. From memory, it's so dark you can't even see your health meter bar at the bottom of the screen!

It's not loading for me.
Doesn't this remake require a special executable, though? :\

No, but it's a TC, so you need some variety of Doom2.wad . (Someone was working on an open-source replacement for that at some point, no?)

I have no idea. I actually have the Doom 2 WADs, and I remember trying out something along these lines, and it required a special executable. The WAD files wouldn't work with other open-source engine recreations.

Why talk about Doom 64? Doom 4 hasn't even come out yet...it'll be YEARS til we see that sequel.
Also, buy Super Street Fighter for the SNES

If you are playing with others, I would recommend Super Street Fighter 2 hands down. If you looking for a solo play through, I would go with Doom 64. It just depends on what games you like, 2D fighing or First Person Shooter. Both are good games.

Well thank you all but iŽll keep that to next week because right now STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT PC sealed is under my arms!
lol
Well....back when it was the N64 vs Playstation days, I was a devout N64 owner. I remember feeling as if my beloved system had "arrived" when we got Quake and Doom. After all, it was always the Playstation that had all of those mature games.

Well then play the PC remake for free right now and then play ZBlood (http://numerometria.com/blood.htm) next. Because, you know, you can never get enough Doom engine game remake fun.
p.s. Batman Doom (http://www.doomworld.com/batman/main.shtml).
