As I post this, there are 5 left. I got mine years ago and I swear by it!

Wow, that's fast. Others have said it already, but again, THANK YOU for posting this! I happened to see it last night before going to bed, and since I'd been wanting one, I jumped on it and got mine.

So... how long until some of those extras start showing back up again?

Gone!

Meant to give you congrats, since it looks like you eeked in with the 2nd to last purchase!

Expect asshole resellers to start trickling them out in the coming weeks...

That's what's always pissed me off about these. I've wanted one for years but always missed the brief window they've been on sale. And I'll be damned if I pay a huge markup to some asshat who cares only about making a quick buck and not the games.

Fortunately, I got one this time

Thanks! Yeah, picked one up b/c I gave my first copy to David after he won that crazy Vectrex auction at CGE since I was the one who bid it up.

I used to have a Sean Kelly multicart. I didn't have any problems with it, but felt no need to keep it after I bought a VecFlash cartridge. I ended up selling it to a friend with a Vectrex. It also appears that Richard Hutchinson isn't making VecFlash carts any more, as his site is no longer up.

He is still making them, but he took the site offline temporarily as he's been having some health issues and didn't want to have people email with orders that he might not have time or energy to fulfil. He hopes it will be back up shortly...

It is for me: http://www.vectrex.biz/

There is a newer multicart (with more software) available, too. This one:
http://vectrex.playntradeonline.com/

and another set was in dev but I'm not sure what came of it.

Does he still make 2600 multicarts? What about 7800 carts?

His site must have literally just back up today or yesterday, because I needed his ROM patcher for the flashcart and got a 403 Forbidden error from his site. I ended up getting the files I needed off of a friend on IRC. Regardless, good to know as Richard makes a good product.

UGH!! I want one of those. I have a v1 Sean Kelly cart. It has no sticker and uses funky dipswitches to switch games. I'd love to have a version with the on-screen menu instead. *sigh*

I bet a Vectrex collector would trade a new style cart for your old one.

And a bit more... you'd be surprised but the older versions are worth something. More than the new one sells for.

If you missed it, you should make Sean one of your favorite sellers and hit it up every few days as a habit...I actually found it during the normal 'saved vectrex' search I have .
Hell I should have grabbed one and resold it....for $70 + PP fees only of course!
Tony
PS he does these 2-4 times a year. I would expect to see 20 or so go up again Dutch style, before Xmas...If he holds true to form

BUMP:

Here they are once more and once again most are gone already. Due to the 'anonymizer' you cant tell who's who , and I have found the first and last letter dont make sense if you know who bidders area anyway...

Got mine from Sean personally at CGE 2002. I love it!

I was just curious--who are the "usual" people who snap these up, and how much do they sell them for?

Not sure if i am going to name names....But there are a couple ebay'ers who REGULARLY buy them and subsequently try to get double or more. Sometimes they get 2-3, maybe 4? Speculative for sure, as it seems the market for these at $200 is gone, as Sean gets them up 2-4 times a year it seems.
There is one up there for $149 BIN, and I dont recognize the seller.....

Anyway I try to get the info up here when I see them up

I just want ONE of these and every time they go up, they're gone before I see the auction.

I was going to buy one of the last two just for that very reason. Then add the $5 extra ship.
Next time!

I really hate profiteering for its own sake, especially in this case... it's so salacious. It's one thing to buy one and then decide to sell it some months or years down the road, but to snap it up from the people who truly want to own and play it, and turn right around and make a big profit, that's just sleazy. (If anyone is thinking of retorting with something like, "Hey, free market economy, it's their right, blah blah blah", spare me. It will fall on deaf ears.) I had to make the unpleasant decision a year and a half ago to sell some items on eBay (I very much needed the money at that time), and a few times some items were won by resellers, which just irked the shit out of me. I mean, they would just turn right around and try and sell the item again for a higher profit--why couldn't I just sell it to the person they would have eventually sold it to, in the first place? Argh.

I'd sell mine if I could get my hands on a VecFlash cart. luckily I was able to pick one up at MGC this year for my brother. He's not a classic gamer by any means, but he loves the Vectrex for some reason so I've got to encourage the habit... :)

This is something that just screams to be mass produced.

I am happy to say Sean will be listing a few more of the Vectrex Multicarts (and maybe a couple other surprises) up on the Chuckwagon in the next week or so -- so keep an eye out. I will let everyone know (in this thead) when they get listed, as well.

Here is a link to the discussion starting in the Chuckwagon forums: http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/upload/showthread.php?p=5324#post5324
