How much do you want for it? $100? $200? How about apendages? An arm? A leg?

Women will be fine. And pogs. Lots and lots of pogs.

I am very disappointed in Capcom for the intentional short supply. No matter though, I am just going to have a friend with a vinyl printer make the cart for me.

You know it.

Uh, I really do have a ziplock bag filled with a couple thousand pogs and slammers in a box somewhere.

Don't joke about pogs, because I will give you like 500 pogs plus slammers for it, hahaha

As for women: does it have to be a woman, or just a person dressed like a woman (don't worry, if it is a dude, I will make them shave their goat-tee)?

Let this be a lesson for me: Never make jokes about zany fads from yesteryear because there will always be someone who still has a collection. Now where did I put my slap bracelets?

Actually, I am too stubborn to throw them away as nobody wants them, hahahahaha.

You can have them for free if you want some pogs, hahaha.

Trust me, I only have them because I can't even give them away and spent too much to throw them away.

Now about those people that are "dressed" like women...

Not to take this off topic but I'd love to be able to start a fad. Even if it lasts for just a year, if you can manage to sell kids little bits of cardboard, rocks, etc. for even just 365 days you'd be on easy street.

http://wa3.images.onesite.com/capcom-unity.com/user/s-kill/mega_man_934.jpg?v=184500

Attention Mega Man fans: The much-loved Mega Man Press Kits are going on sale at the Capcom Store at 3pm PST tomorrow, October 9th! They will be selling at the regular list price of $49.95.

If you were one of the lucky community members who received an advance purchase code, you need to use it NOW. The code does not guarantee you a copy of the press kit, it just lets you cut in line to buy one. If you wait until they are all sold out, you and that code will be out of luck, so buy yours today if you got a code.

There are a VERY limited number of these in existence, so if you want one and can't win our contest, get ready. They are going to go fast, so get your buying finger prepped and stay tuned!

And while you're at the store, remember, if you spend more than $75 (and you're mostly there if you buy the press kit), you score free shipping on your order, so be sure to check out the other goodness floating around. In addition to lots of hard-to-find games, books, and cool shirts, you'll also find things like this Chun Li SFIV statue, which is not available *anywhere* outside of the Capcom store.

One important note-do not order the Mega Man 9 shirt and press kit together. Since the Mega Man 9 shirt is on back-order, and the press kits are sent out first-come, first-served, if you wait until the shirts are back in (should be about a week), your order may not be processed until the shirts are back in stock. If the kits sell out super fast, as I expect they might, you could be out of luck.

With ebay prices currently running $100-$750 each, best of luck getting your hands on one if you actually want it for the item and not the profit. Scalpers ahoy!

Wait, now people are trying to sell the t-shirt for >$100? This has gotten waaaay out of hand.

I don't want to break your heart, but they ended up accepting way more orders than they have product for. They are going to go through in the next few days and determine how many they received, in what order and how many they can sell. If you bought in the first minute or two, you might be ok. People that bought closer to 15 minutes in or just before it was pulled are probably out of luck. It doesn't matter if you paid with Paypal or Credit Card, they will refund once they decide who actually gets one and who doesn't. Having said that, good luck to everyone who got in.

kainemaxwell

I feel especially bad for everyone saying they got their orders in at ten, eleven - fifteen after, even. Mostly because they're all holding out hope, yet the moderator (or somebody important) was saying they sold out in four minutes. For me, that's important because: did they sell out at 3:04 (four minutes after the $2000 price changed to $49.99 for people who had that link) or at ~3:08 (four minutes after it showed up on the site) or somewhere in between?

If I don't get it, at least I'm not alone, but by god that doesn't mean I won't hope.

I was ok with the limited nature of the promo, but now it seems like capcom are just being pricks about it. If you know you only have 200 (or whatever) units availible, then it's not that hard to only sell it to 200 people. Even if that's beyond your capabilities, it shouldn't take too long to sort out who actually got one and who didn't.

I get that they're soaking up all the free advertising they can get, but at this point they're just being dicks.

SegaAges

Wow, jerks.

They have how many people again that work on their website?

It is not that hard to implement a:

if the sales hit 200, take away the button to sell or immediately make this hit backorder.

Maybe it is the fault of the programmer.

Hey capcom, you could pay me the same as that guy and I would work for ya!

Don't blame Capcom. It's Digital River's fault, they are the ones who control the sales aspect for them, and they charge them a whopping 15-20% per transaction.

The Capcom-Unity boards are starting to piss me off.

Before this whole ordeal, everyone was hoping all the "true" fans would be able to get a copy early so they wouldn't have to pay the Ebay prices. Capcom obliged.

Now it seems that Capcom is trying to get more made so they can fill all of the orders. This makes people who didn't get one happy but, lo and behold, now the people who did get them are not so thrilled. They want "second printing" or something put on the new batch. I wonder why. It's really pathetic how people make a 180 degree turn once a dollar is waved in their faces. If they weren't serious about how they were saying all the fans should be able to get one then they shouldn't have said it.

I saw all those posts over there as well and it makes me really sad. Frankly, I give Capcom a lot of credit for even releasing this to people beyond the press and going even further by having more made when they couldn't deliver to all the orders they took. I think it's really the epitome of hypocracy when the same people who get upset that gougers are getting 5-10 times retail for these things complain when more fans can actually get them. If all these alleged fans really plan on keeping this item in their collection, it doesn't matter if there are 5 or 5,000 of them since they technically have no monetary value since they will never be sold. I also am really disappointed in all the people complaining that they didn't realize it was a used cartridge or just a cartridge and a box. Don't people bother to do a little bit of web surfing to understand what they are getting excited about? It's not like Capcom kept what was in this package a secret and it was well covered all over the web. Overall, I think I am done with Capcom-Unity and hopeful that Capcom keeps moving forward with more of these items.

Most of those members on that board are not even old enuff to really appreciate a promo like that. They dont know the feeling of opening a boxed nes cart. To me it's all about nostalgia I dont plan on selling mine nor do I care how many were printed because it wil remain in my collection. Who even said they want a second printing on the box should be smacked upside the head with a Nes system. Damn Ebay Farmers.

I would really love to get my hands on one of these, but I'm not getting frustrated or anything just yet.

Is it really set in stone that they're not going to make anymore? Things I've seen happen in other hobbies makes me not worry. I'll use my hotwheels knowledge as an example, when Pixar Cars came out and they put out the toys, Lizzie was incredibley hard to come by. Even their website was saying good luck finding her, she's the "treasure hunt" of Cars, and people were spending hundreds of dollars on ebay for her. Few months later guess what, Lizzies out the ass everywhere in the stores.

It wouldn't surprise me if something like this would happen with Mega Man 9, I think it would be hilarious if we see it in stores.

Problem is, they're destroying real NES carts to make these. It's a fairly resource intensive process that's done by hand. It's not something they can just go back to the molds and fire up a few thousand more.

That being said, you could make your own using a decent color laser printer and a busted NES cart. There's not really anything stopping you aside from copyrights...

slip81
10-18-2008, 11:39 AM
though even though they are using actual gutted carts, I still wouldn't be surprised to see more. It's entirely possible to get a hold of say 1000 smb/duck hunt carts and make more of these.

I'm not saying that we'll see like another 10,000 produced or anything, but it's feasable to say that they could make a few more to cash in on the demand and thus make it not as rare.

10-18-2008, 12:41 PM
From what I understand, that's what they're doing - making enough to fill all the orders that were placed. I don't really care if it's not limited to 200. Even if there are 500 or 1000 it's still pretty limited. What I am pissed about is all the people who ordered after me who already got theirs shipped while I still haven't even heard back from the Digital Rivers support about it and my status is still "Order in process". Huge letdown.

Icarus Moonsight

I'll probably make my own. I'd love to have one and that's the problem. For what it is it's not worth $50. It's surely well over $50 in cool value but, the urge to sell would be too much. So I'll print out a label slap it on Dino Riki and be happy with my faux Mega Man 9 NES cart that no one will want to give me hundreds of dollars for. So I get to keep it and sleep well at night. Win/win IMO. I don't care much for the disk content but a box would be nice. Then again, it would look weird with my mostly loose NES stuff.
