That's not really a portable. ;)
Maybe to you it's not. I pack things like Gamecubes with LCDs on trips. A PSOne with an LCD is just as portable as a Nomad... you can even get battery packs for the things (which last roughly the same as a Nomad pack). LOL

My favorite for the Sega Nomad was definitely Columns and for GB although I love Tetris I have to say I love Mario's Picross better. And for Watara Supervision, Crystball is actually a pretty good game, sort of like Breakout. I vaguely enjoyed Lights Out on Game.Com.

I was kicking Magical Drop pocket today on the NGPC. It rocks. I am going to vote for it on this system. I hear great things about Mario's Picross (it's on the way in the mail right now), but until then I'll have to say the original Tetris on the Gameboy. Game Gear just has to be the original Columns.

I like the snake game on the BRICK GAME, there is also a 'Tetromino' variant that has falling blocks but this type of game like most others are very common into portable systems ...The nice thing is the ability to continue playing after some time.
BRICK GAME is one of those portable games that has lots of variants of the same themed games with the same design for each BRICK (BLOCK) ...

I am fond of games like Boxxle and Boxxle II.
I'll second boxxle, fun little game. It is called "Shove It" on the Nomad/Genesis.
I also like Puznic. I believe it is on Gameboy, although I mostly play it on NES.
I just got Rodland on Gameboy and love it. It is a cross between Bubble bobble and Mr. Do's Castle.

It was also released for Turbografx under the name Boxyboy. I believe it has other names on other platforms as well.

I can't believe a couple people put down ZOO KEEPER for the DS! I LOVE that game! But most dismissed it as another Bejeweled clone. Something about the quirky music and animal faces jives with me better than Bejeweled. Though I have to say TETRIS DS is still king of the hill for DS.
So many mentioned MARIO PICROSS too! I really have to track that one down as I've passed it up many times.
My list:
GameBoy/GameBoy Color : Tetris
GameBoy Advance: Dr. Mario / Puzzle League
Nintendo DS: Tetris DS
Turbo Express: Tricky Kick
PSP: Lumines

Zoo Keeper is a very under-rated Bejeweled clone.
In fact, I MUCH prefer it to bejeweled aesthetically, control-wise and in gameplay.
It's got a solid 2 player mode, and the aforementioned controls work great and function exceptionally well when swoosing the DS stylus across the screen.
A great great game - and super cheap these days.
