I have a 4:3 CRT monitor that my PC and Dreamcast share that I'd like to avoid changing cables all the time.

As a alternative, were there ever any DC VGA boxes that had a pass through port for your computer's VGA cable that turned themselves on only if the DC is powered up and otherwise passed through your computer's VGA signal to your monitor?

I can only seem to find pretty pricey VGA selectors so far. I don't need anything fancy like remote control switching and such, just something mechanical where I can press a button to go between my Dreamcast and my PC.

Search for a KVM Switch. They'll be dirt cheap and get the job done.

Monoprice, sucka (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10106). Whenever you're ever shopping for any A/V stuff (cables, splitters, KVMs, whatever), always hit Monoprice up for at least a look-see.

Yes. There is a Performance brand VGA adaptor that is exactly what you need. It allowed one monitor and one set of speakers to be shared by the Dreamcast and a computer.

It may be difficult to find now, so you may be better off with the regular VGA cable and a KVM switch. Good luck.

Just so you are aware, I bought one of those blue switches for my Dreamcast, and the resulting picture was all screwed up.
